I don't think The Bow would make much sense in a context where it's not the tallest building in the city. Girth be damned, if you put it across from NPS it's already dwarfed and/or obscured by the financial district when viewed from the lake. Its prominent location in Calgary ensures even if it's far surpassed for height it won't suffer the same fate as Calgary Tower (in addition to actually being, you know, good).

I would have loved to see the Bow near the old roundhouse playing off of that radius.

They should probably replace Calgary Tower with something more fitting. I suppose people are attached to it but might change their minds if something spectacular replaced it. Maybe a tower 1,875 feet tall to commemorate the year Calgary was founded? It would have the added bonus for Albertans of eclipsing the CN Tower by 60 feet.

Probably will be approved.

Many many tall towers being built around the Sacred School, so more reason to deny this request due to shadowing.

I remember as a child thinking The Bay and the CIBC Towers were crazy tall.

It's curious that the one tower still has the old The Bay branding in such a prominent location.

There's still something like 80+ HBC locations listed on their site, including six or seven in Toronto proper. They were looking at closing locations and restructuring leases prior to COVID.

They never swapped out the old ones on the downtown Winnipeg store before it closed on Nov. 30 (they took the signs down after that). I always assumed they never bothered since they knew the store was probably going to close sometime soon anyway.

I suppose it's possible that there is still another doomed location or two out there that still has the old signage?

I assumed he meant the last HBC building with the old logo. One would have to be living in a cave not to notice HBC exists.

I haven't been in that Bay for a number of years. The damage sign fits the location perfectly the last time i was there. The new marquee would clash.

@ Caltrane. It's not the school. It's a city park next to the school.
