Leamington and Kingsville are enjoying healthy growth and investment, like much of Essex County now. Windsor and Essex County are on a roll!

The CBC had a piece about Windsor's boom after job losses were announced at CAMI assembly in Ingersoll.

^^ Lol, you can really hear the local hybrid Ontario/Michigan accent that many have in our city when listening to Tony Ferria at the end of the peice, rather nasal.

It is scary though that Trump's actions could potentially harm our city's current boom, hopefully he will realize the integrated nature of the auto industry in the US and Canada and leave it alone.

I get that, about the accent. It's so much more pronounced in MI (even among Detroit newscasters) but it's definitely there in Windsor.

I hope the same thing re: Trump's rhetoric so far. He can bluster on about killing free trade deals (like NAFTA) that have been supposedly detrimental to American jobs, but it's been more than two decades and the economies of the three countries have adapted and moved toward maximizing efficiencies, and become co-dependent in many industries. This is especially true for the Can-U.S. auto industry.

Housing prices in Chatham-Kent are up 10% over last year, this despite a falling population in the last census. Looks like things are changing, with low unemployment and a strong housing market. Hopefully next census it starts to grow again!

Good news for job numbers last month in London as well. Housing prices are currently rising at record rates in Windsor. Chatham and London are not far behind. We're on a roll.

Speaking of Chatham, I just saw that their average home price has gone up 30% over the past year to $196,000 in March. (those are Toronto sized increases) That's pretty darn impressive considering how much the city has struggled over the past decade!

It looks like all the cities in the extreme SW part of Ontario are doing really well economically now. Though, I'm not sure how Sarnia's economy is doing, I would assume it is also seeing good times.

Unemployment rate down to 5.9% in Chatham-Kent, as more people employed in the area.

It's great to see SWO doing well after years of struggling. Chatham is a lovely little city and a hidden gem and enjoys a mild climate with only 80cm of snow per year. It also has the benefit of being just an hour from both Windsor and London.

Then make the city big enough that MTO has to add another lane both directions on the 401. Then it will also be forced to put up concrete barriers, restoring people's faith in provincial highways. Next thing you know, we are gonna be the only province in North America that has a continuous 6-lane freeway for 474 km.

Extreme SW Ontario has a lot of potential for growth in population due to people retiring there. I know a lot of people from the Northeast who have moved down there and many who are considering living there.

I think I mentioned it on here before that the towns South of Windsor have the most potential due to climate and the fact it isn't crowded and expensive. Very affordable housing and excellent services available. You are still in Canada and don't have to change provinces. So no issues with receiving Old Age Security and health coverage with your Ontario health card.

I was just talking with a senior Timmins couple who bought a house in Amherstburg, sold their house in Timmins but are keeping their cottage which is near Timmins as they will come back up at times. They love the fact that the Detroit airport is so close and they can get cheap flights to Arizona to visit friends.
