Great set of pictures! They seem to be sprucing up more areas of the old city. One block at a time, I guess! Hopefully one day it will not only be the touristic areas that will be in good shape.

Thanks for the interesting pics. Such a sad, rundown place. But the people are trying hard to make the most of their situation. There are some parts of the city that look like they were very beautiful at one time 100 years ago. The new high rises are really ugly. Some of the old cars are cool.

If you didn't know better, it'd be easy to mistake some of these photos as being taken in the '40s or '50s. The vintage qualities of Cuba are one of the most fascinating parts of the country, I think. Great tour!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! Our short stay there definitely exceeded our expectations. I hope those who have yet to visit get their chance someday soon.

Nice pictures!

Did you see a little or a lot of entrepreneurs around? Are people to work pretty freely?

Thanks Matt! Yes I did and as far as I could tell they were able to work freely. It’s a good thing too because they are slowly transforming neighborhoods back to their former glory. Our Airbnb pictured below was in ruins before our hosts took possession of it. The before and after renovation photos they showed me were unbelievable. Thankfully for them all of their efforts seem to now be paying off.
