8/22/2021 - view from the corner of Brady & Colton. Windows are being installed. The building has nice legs. I like the rounded corner & indentation when viewed from Market St. I think this development will be a very nice addition to the area.

along Market St

here come da Hub, here come da Hub!

similar to Jerry's shot

central courtyard

I had not realized that 30 Otis would open directly onto the back alleys of this project too, making it in a sense one larger contiguous whole

I think this development will transform the area which formerly was not much more than an extension of the mid-Market wasteland--not as scary, perhaps, as 6th/7th/8th & Market, but with little reason to go there other than one pretty good Indian restaurant and some antique shops. But this development should bring some life to the area and I think it's very nice looking.

"The Hub" area should be an awesome place to be in ~5 years.

Lots more density and new development, BRT being fully functional, right on transit to downtown and the Mission, walkable to Hayes Valley.

Hopefully it all comes together! Just needs a general post-COVID recovery of the city...

you can definitely hear when a BART train passes underneath here

the back alley has gotten a little tidier. I'm hoping they will brick or cobble those little alleyways

10/11/2021 - two of timbad's photos posted today show a high rise condo in the distance from the alley street with arches at the base. For those who are not aware or forgot, the arches are the façade of an older building that was incorporated into the new one.

timbad - thanks for the picture of the plumber's union building in demolition. I go away for a week on a Caribbean cruise & a building disappears!

This may be the shortest street in San Francisco. The building on the right is part of the large development at 1601-1637 Market Street. Today I discovered this dead-end street which was hidden to me. Next time you folks go behind the development continue on to see this hidden street.

Surprised to see the buildings in the view have a parking outlet to Chase Court.

Chase Court

53 Collins - Jazzie Collins Apartments

7/15/2022 - Reported in YIMBY the permanent support housing has opened. Known as Jazzie Collins Apartments the building is 68 feet tall with 96 units. It is located behind & part of the development at 1601-1637 Market Street. Colton St. is parallel to Market St. Photo of rendering from David Baker Architects. The BART tunnel is underneath the complex - the ventilation vent is pictured here. I have heard the trains from the ventilation tube as they move underground!

If you’re talking about the Muni tunnel, not at this location. This development covers part of the area where BART turns south to travel under Mission St after leaving Civic Center.

Close up of the original street level facade and currently naked, but soon-to-be-installed ornamental fins there above will be added.

Looking south from the corner of Market and Brady.

Looking back and in toward what will eventually be the central courtyard/park space (just to the right of frame).

And back out from the corner of the recently completed 53 Colton. You can see the BART air shaft and vent casing center frame.

From across the street for context and scale.

Building B (where the original UA Local 38 building used to stand) looks appears to still be a big hole.

10/31/2022 Went by today & got this view from Colton St. (and heard BART rumbling through the air shaft in the middle of the development). Noted that painters are working on the rescued fascade on Market St.

View from Brady @ Market Street. Vertical slats are being installed over the windows.
