This is yet another Roderick Lazy Architecture original. Surprisingly Blair is a Hobin project, although you could easily mistake it for Roderick Lazy.

In 30 years the sea of nearly identical White/Gray RLA buildings in Ottawa will be as highly regarded as the brutalist apartments from the 60's/70's are now. It's a joke. A horrible terrible joke.

Looks like the Phase 1 tower is actually about 85m tall.

Here they have it labelled at 84.2m

It took me far too long to realize that my office building (1335 Carling) is pictured as a 14 storey building! I guess that means that all three of my workplaces are slated for demolition (1335, 267 O'connor, and Civic) :-( Let's hope it's not in the next decade as our building is actually in excellent shape compared to some professional building across the city.

this render was always interesting to me, i love the possiblity that the travel logde be demolished and replaced with a 10-15 story block, this whole node needs a facelift

I've got good news then, the travelodge tower was demolished a couple years ago. The two floor building of the travelodge is still there and looks to be operating but I can't imagine it will be around much longer when the new tower starts to be built.

Those are horizontal ground distances. But coincidentally the Phase 1 tower is almost exactly as tall as the Phase 1 property is wide.

There is such a lack of new or upgraded hotel space west of downtown until you hit Bells Corners and Kanata - always surprised me!

I've always had the same thought.

It seems Richmond Road along the Byron Linear Park would make a great spot for a hotel. River views, greenspace and a quick O-Train ride to downtown (in 2025).

Same with Dow's Lake, a popular spot for the Tulip Festival, Winterlude and summer water sports.

Lansdowne is another strange spot for hotel desert.

I had just noticed, I said Travelodge what I really meant was the best western.(years of pizza delivery made me confuse the two)
the render seems to suggest a 10-15 story block.

if anyone has some inside on it's status, I'd appreciate.

Thanks! I had to pick up a package at the Shoppers post office, so I figured I’d take some photos while I was in the area.

Great photos...based on your Avatar I'm sure you're a happy Gers supporter these days.

I've been slacking lately. Will continue to document progress. This was a couple of weeks ago. The skinnier tower portion is starting to rise and it looks like today they are planning to raise the crane. Gonna be quite an imposing tower once topped out.

Thanks for the post. It will make quite an impact from the Queensway.
