IIRC the Ottawa River is like 40m above sea level. I can only assume this means they're referring to the Ottawa River as sea level which is far from accurate.
Wouldn't that just mean that the ground floor is about 73 metres above sea level?

That seems in line with other projects, like 400 Albert.

Just a few more years of building 27-30 story towers in Centretown and we'll have our own Kowloon Walled City!

While listening to the planning commitee meeting with the Bayshore towers, I learned something. One of the councillors asked if the height of the towers (27 and 30 stories) had additional requirements due to their height. The planner said that the City's cut-off for additional requirements for tall-buildings is >30 stories. That could explain why we are seeing so many 30 story towers.

The other reason is its just a very efficient height in terms of floor plates.

I know you're being facetious but the KWC had far better streetfront retail. And the density? Great for local transit development

Truly an impactful development not just for the neighbourhood but for the city as a whole.

Another rendering.

https://www.sercoconstruction.ca/projects/180-metcalfe

This one is B.S. making it look far taller than anything else when it's in fact a little shorter than some of those buildings.

I think you might be right. I counted 39 floors in the one rendering and 30 in the other. It's only supposed to be 27, right? Not to mention the materials and lighting will definitely not look like the renderings when built. There should be some penalty if renderings are misleading like. You can't hide bad design behind a rendering, RLA!

I'm still salty as MAB is one of my favourite buildings in Ottawa by Ottawa's best architect, Noffke.

Setting aside the # of stories in the renderings..
At what height would those balconies in the render have to be to see the Ottawa River over the roof of World Exchange Plaza?! At least they used downtown Ottawa in the render backgrounds, I guess.

I agree. I wish they would have preserved the entire building. Considering its "L" shape, I feel it would have been entirely possible.

At least 60 floors I would guess.

This is just bizarre. Who would put effort into making these renders that really have very little in common with what they are building? These are like fantasy renders one of us would make and post. Roderick Lazy Architecture strikes again!

I wish it was 35-40 floors. It would make a bit impact on the flat-top Centretown skyline.

Do they know something we don't? Are they proposing something taller?

Like what floor is this woman sipping Scotch from?
