Why are you dissapointed? Were you planning on buying there?

I had very much hoped to. I'm at least a decade or more away from being ready to rent rather than own.

I'm sure though that it will be registered as a condo so that in the future units can be sold. In the meantime, rent will be charged but Minto will own all the units.

Literally impossible to convert from a rental to a condo these days due to vacancy rates.

Fencing has been set up around the building and it looks like they've begun some interior demolition work.

The construction office has set up where the Pure Gelato used to be at the corner of Bank and 5th Ave.

The Ottawa Music Industry Coalition and Youth Ottawa moved out last month because work was about to begin.

I like it! Nice scale, matches with the rest of that stretch of Bank and the community. Like the different materials and set-back, and that building/space was way underutilized anyway.

I wish they could have integrated the rooftops of the Bank St. retail buildings. Maybe turn it into a communal rooftop lawn/garden/patio? Instead the tenants siting on those balconies get to look down at an ugly tar and gravel roof.

Nevertheless I am pretty excited about this development!

The setback from Bank St. was a selling point in the approval process, as was the retention of the historic retail block, so those are the main reasons why it's not integrated.

Yup. From CTV's photos of the day, June 2020. Can't tell exactly where it was taken from (maybe an apartment tower on Riverside?). Crane on the right is probably this one.

I predict they should reach ground floor in September and then this one will start rising.

This site is now at grade and they are pouring the ground floor walls and columns. Will take a picture next time I'm in the area.

It's sufficiently set back that it's not really having an impact walking down Bank Street, but it's coming along. I took the picture from the corner of Bank and Fourth Ave.
