For Montreal the song about the city I hear most often referenced as being iconic is this one.

This version starts with the song's creator Robert Charlebois, who is then joined by satellite by a bunch of Quebec artists who happen to be scattered around the world for work. (And ends with a somewhat familiar face and voice.)

It's probably one of the most well-known Quebec songs in the global francophonie.

Here are the lyrics translated into English next to the French. The translation is pretty shitty and doesn't do justice to the song IMO, but I don't have time to do a more poetic translation.

This is probably the one for Quebec City. By the same dude as the one for Montreal.

Here he is signing it on one of those variety shows they have in France.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJRMqp05awA

And here is a more modern version by pop and hiphop artists, with a video showing more of the city.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvouNbW9T60

Translated lyrics. Fairly shitty again.

This whole interview is awesome, but the last 10 minutes of the video talks about the music of cities.

You mean Under the Bridge?

I agree - but that's only because it's probably my favorite song of all-time lol

Those old singers are in tune, have a fine tone and I like them anyway.

Not sure if you're aware but Baby, It's Cold Outside has become a somewhat controversial song in the anglosphere. It's said to be "rapey".

The people who claim it's "rapey" never seem to include the second half of the scene from the film "Neptune's Daughter" where Betty Garrett is singing the pursuer's part while Red Skelton is the one trying to leave.

There is no question what should be the official song of this LA suburb.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U3yvDIgPjfk

"We took this trip to Garden Grove
It smelled like Lou Dog inside the van, oh yeah..."

Although it will be need to be updated
"It smelled like Lou Dog inside the streetcar, oh yeah..."

Ah, yeah, that sucks... I understand now.
Over here, weather has nothing much to do with anything of that because it's mild.
So the rule is quite simple:

1. She firmly, strictly says no, which simply means no. You can see it in her attitude, then you don't act as a poor dick, you just don't insist and move on.
2. She says a shy, hesitating no, but you can sense that it might mean yes, so you may insist a little bit in that case, but very gently, and if situation eventually turns into 1, then you move on.
3. She says nothing, which means yes.

That's quite simple, isn't it? Raping is fairly punished by imprisonment anyway.
I just want to make it clear, so North American women feel safe in France.

Great scene!

(I would have stayed.)

It does snow sometimes during romantic moments in French cinema:

1964? Good Lord, that was some kind of a disaster!
That is pretty awkward.

Only (some) foreigners would dig something like this.

But I won't blame on you Acajack. It's true that French + Italian show business was something appealing in the 60s.
Many foreigners like it.
