I'm going to keep my expectations low so I can be pleasantly surprised, but Handel can do some decent stuff. Waterview was a unique case and this time they won't be constrained by an existing half-built tower.

The program is interesting; only 20 condos on top of a hotel? Looks like parking has been reduced significantly too.

No kidding - very happy about this and it will really improve the surrounding area quite a bit. Wish I knew more status about the other projects. I think though that the building across the street to the south IS part of the deal to renovate and clean its facade. Let's hope it's still part of the deal!

permit pulling isn't as sexy as seeing pics of the business end of a caisson rig ripping the earth open.

Sure - but it's also a major step in the actual construction of something and means they can legally do it, and most likely will be starting soon.

1101 S Wabash Hotel Proposal

Surprised renderings of this one haven't been posted yet - here or anywhere else as far as I can gather.....surely they were presented at the community meeting earlier in the week....

Same. Bvic said it was LDVA designed. I emailed Sloopin asking if anyone there was at the meeting.

More S. Loop Development?

From Sloopin:

In case you haven't heard, Ma & I, the Thai restaurant, and Sixpax, the pilates studio--both at 1234 S Michigan--have closed. I heard their leases were bought out by a new building owner anxious to demolish that building to make way for a more profitable/higher new building.

There's a couple proposals in that few-block stretch of Michigan south of Roosevelt (SCB tower, old Post Office mid-rise), but don't think I've seen anything for this one?

1250 S. Michigan owns the air-rights to that building so not sure exactly how tall they can go, perhaps the height of 1250's base which is 5 floors.
