UNStudio realizes one of the most sustainable large office buildings in Europe

A new, 92 meter tall complex of soft, undulating curves marks the skyline of Groningen. This asymmetric, aerodynamic construction is set amidst small, ancient woodland, sheltering rare and protected species. The project includes the design, construction and financing of two public institutions; the national tax offices and the student loan administration. The commission from the RGD (National Buildings Service) includes, besides the architecture, the management and building maintenance and care of facilities and services for a period of 20 years. Accommodating 2,500 workstations, parking facilities for 1,500 bicycles and 675 cars in an underground garage, the building will be surrounded by a large public city garden with pond and a multifunctional pavilion with commercial functions.

It’s social apartment building and part of an urban master plan by Viaplana & Piñon for L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, the Plaça Europa. Even thought the Torre is social housing tower, among the most regulated and least glamorous areas of architecture, with limited budget, we tried to make difference and hopefully managed to make it look attractive with its elegant facade and generous entrance lobby presented as a interior street crossing the building.

Museum of American Jewish History Protected by a Terra Cotta Eco Facade

The new National Museum of American Jewish History by Ennead Architects in downtown Philadelphia is a symbolic gesture of how the American dream can be realized through design. The building’s exterior serves as both symbol and function, facing Independence hall across the street with an airy open facade, while the heritage inside is protected by a terra cotta rain screen designed by Shildan Inc that symbolizes security, liberty and the protection of all citizens.

Maybe it's because I live in Miami, but I'm a sucker for color in buildings, especially pastels.

I skimmed through the pages and I don't think I saw Absolute World Towers in Mississauga Ontario, located just outside Toronto.

A couple of twisty, sexy, 600 foot condos, I think they deserve an honourable mention in this thread.

^They have both topped out just recently, but there's still a few months before move in can happen. The shorter tower just topped out a week or so ago and hasn't even got any balcony glass yet.

coolest parkade ever... or as cool as a parkade could be anyway

Location: SAIT Main Campus, 1301 16th Ave NW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Continuing the relationship between landscape and design is the pixilated façade, designed by BTA in collaboration with Vancouver artist Roderick Quin. The east and south facades of the parkade are clad in metal screens that have thousands of holes strategically punched into them, allowing natural light and ventilation into the interior of the parkade, while simultaneously creating a giant exterior art piece that interacts with sunlight to both depict, and blend into, the Alberta prairie sky.

The Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum is housed in one of the most beautiful buildings in Washington, DC -- the former US Patent Building. Saved by President Eisenhower from impending demolition in 1958, the historic building is currently in the midst of a remarkable renovation by Inhabitat favorite Foster + Partners.

160m elliptical tower forms a commanding presence in City of Dreams

The Crown Hotel at City of Dreams in Macau is, at 160m, the tallest and most luxurious of the project’s four hotel towers within this flagship integrated resort and entertainment centre, measuring a GFA of 512,500 sq m.

City of Dreams is the latest casino development on Macau’s Cotai strip and the project embodies a strong reference to water throughout the 122,000 sq m site. Each of the towers was designed to acknowledge the water theme and present a distinct and varied identity in their form.

You mean the British Museum?



The Kogod Courtyard in DC is acoustically perfect. You go inside and it doesn't echo whatsoever... there's none of the cacophony that usually accompanies large spaces like that. BTW, Foster only designed the canopy and vents... the ground plane and virtually everything on it was designed by Kathryn Gustafson.
