These Hyatt hotels were approved by the city last night. They are basically already under construction, with foundations having been completed. https://www.niagarafallsreview.ca/ne...an-1-500-jobs/

Those are much more spectacular than the previous designs, although it's strange that the building shown in the still renderings are totally different than the ones shown in the video.
I expect that the current crisis will put a stop to any new developments for quite a while.

Very true it looks like in the stills all the rooms have balconies and in the video there are none I really hope after everything clears up they start construction on these

No.

Sent it back.

Don't want to see housing floating off in outerspace by a golf course.

Not consistent with urban vitality and sustainability.

The update here is that after the developers went into receivership, the property is now owned by Rankin (as of Feb 2019), who are proposing a project called Locks Condos where this would have been. They're still in the preliminary stages of creating a new design from scratch.

$100-million Compass Heights aims to become signature gateway project in Fort Erie
By Paul Forsyth - Fort Erie Post
Mon, Sept. 21, 2020

If Jeffrey Andrews and his partners have their way, people crossing into Canada via the Peace Bridge — once the border reopens — will be greeted by a new signature development.

Andrews, head of Compass Land Developments Ltd. (formerly ATW Development Niagara), said plans for the new Compass Heights development project at the corner of Central Avenue and Garrison Road are full speed ahead despite the ongoing pandemic.

With an estimated construction price of more than $100 million, plans include condominiums, a rooftop restaurant, bowling alleys for building tenants and a Timber Hall reception/lobby with a large custom aquarium and exotic fish.

As well there will be main floor commercial space, a Brewhouse restaurant and possibly a nanobrewery on the ground floor. The two-tier project would have eight storeys on one part and 12 on a tower section complete with an observation deck.

“It needs to be spectacular, it needs to have a vista impact,” said Andrews. “It’s the face of Canada and Fort Erie and Niagara.”

Over the summer as a hobby I built a site to track the major developments happening in Niagara.

I'm continually adding more projects to the site so by no means is it a definitive listing. Right now it's mostly focussed on St. Catharines, but I'll be adding more projects from the other municipalities.

If you're interested in taking a look:
