COLOGNE's 21st century harbor

This is an urban regeneration project located in and around an old commercial harbor on the bank of the Rhine, just south of the city's cathedral.

Wow, that looks like something from Halo, its incredible, great photos too, really shows off that amazing architecture. I love the futuristic buildings just looming over the old buildings, incredible.

All of these Euro waterfront "renegeration" projects all appear to have the same exact architects designing the buildings. Not that it's a bad thing - I love the geometric facades!

Yup, Hafencity etc all look somewhat similar...yet cool and futuristic. IMO the perfect setting for a 22nd century movie.

Pics taken from the other bank of the Rhine river. Glorious weather all week long but today the sun was hiding behind a veil of clouds.

Restored buildings (from 1909) on the right...the so called "Siebengebirge", named after some hills to the south of Cologne:

Great stuff, I really like this project. Any idea if it might get scaled up to be something big like the Docklands in Melbourne? Can anyone think of a "Western Country" that has done a redevelopment of old port land as large as Docklands?

The Hafencity in Hamburg is relatively big. Not sure if it's as big as the project in Melbourne though.
