I'm far from an architect but I thought it was an oversight in design of the building. I'm not sure why the developers should care more about the stability of the building than the architect, or why that would be a bad thing...

Yeah we do have a lot of lights lol. Trying to be conscious about it though:

Also is there any reason those louvers are so... big? They take up so much space, it's hard to believe they really needed all that.
That's a good point there Mr Doom. Those are a LOT of louvers. I wonder how much are actually getting used? I can't imagine that much intake or exhaust would be needed???

I personally think the blow-thru is awesome. Sometimes things like that can seem like a downside at first but now it seems like an interesting architectural element that's also functional.

The base is going to be fantastic. It's going to act as a gateway from Lakeshore East Park to Wacker and the Riverwalk. It's exactly the kind of multi-use layered program that make buildings interesting.

have they been making any progress the last few months? The exterior at least seems stalled?

Yes - steady progress - hoping the pedestrian way is open tomorrow.

thanks Harry! great photos as always. the gray sky really brings out those color variations in the glass, would be neat to see a few other buildings around here get more playful with glazing.

The pedestrian way from Lower Wacker to the Riverwalk? What makes you think it might open soon?

No the pedestrian way along the S side of the building.

Would that open up the pedestrian walkway to Wacker? (Assuming not to Columbus given Gems work has stalled) I was thinking that wouldn't open up till the building was open for its tenants.

I haven't noticed a walkway to Wacker on the upper level - there is a roadway on the ground level.

It si rascally in that you can't really see it from the South, and from Wacker it is blocked by construction stuff - but from Streeterville the hold is big and obvious

I've moved on from the blow-through, but what a frankenstein of a building from the south. She looks beautiful from the north.

i like the swerve, not sure about the glass.

i think it would have looked better if the floors matched up, no? i am sure that has been discussed here, is there any consensus on that aspect?

I haven't seen any consensus on any aspect of this tower.

It sure does seem to divide opinions.
