Yeah I saw Tron today and Vancouver is definitely prominently shown. Shangri La looks good with a big corporate logo lit up at the top.

Up to six injured in explosion on movie set near Vancouver

MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. - Up to six people have been injured in an explosion on a movie set east of Vancouver.

Chief Dane Spence of Maple Ridge Fire Department says the explosion happened in Golden Ears Provincial Park.

Spence says five or six people suffered what appear to be non-life-threatening burns.

Spence didn't know how serious the injuries were, but says several people have been transported to hospital.

^An article I read earlier today said they would be trying to pass the location off for India. They'll apparently have palm trees there and who knows what else. It doesn't seem like a particularly Indian-looking area to me.

lol it's supposed to be Bangalore. And in lieu of actually bringing in palm trees they paid someone to glue leaves to bare trees.

Yep, that's why these movies cost hundreds of millions

And of course Vancouver is not playing Vancouver. Vancouver is playing Dubai, Prague, Moscow, two Indian cities, and some random Asia.

Liam Neeson's new film about alaska is going to film here.

Tom Cruise is apparently staying at one of the fairmonts, occupying one whole floor.

Ahhhh so that's what they were doing at the convention centre. I was walking by the other day and was wondering if it was some indian convention until I saw a retail unit at the fairmont with mannequins dressed in indian garments at the window and a note in front of the store that said "...we are proud to support the local film industry", then I thought to myself, "Bollywood isn't local." lol.

Anyways I'll be definitely watching MI4; if not for the merit of the movie, I'll be looking out for scenes of Vancouver.

News report and more photos at http://www.vancouversun.com/entertai...558/story.html

Vancouver Convention Centre does look like a different place. I wouldn't be able to recognize it just looking at the picture.

IMDB really revamped their filming location page, a search for Vancouver is now much more coheriant and can even be sorted by "most popular titles" although I dont know how they determine that one...

http://www.imdb.com/search/title?loc...mbia,%20Canada

I was surprised by a few, most notably, Titanic.

Glad to see the convention center in those takes. I am assuming it is standing in for a locale in India.

Streetview also drove by the set of Twilight, a house built down a quiet empty road in Surrey while filiming was in progress.

images were taken sometime in late spring 2009.

Twilight Breaking Dawn cast heads to Vancouver - First photos Jacob Blacks house

Quote:
'Hollywood Life' reported that they know an exact day and where the filming will take place. This seems unlikely since the pandamonium that that kind of insider knowledge would bring would force the producers to change plans but here's the scoop. Sources say that filming will take place in the "city of Vancouver on one day March 14, they’ll be at a theatre for part of the day and then they’ll be filming on Beatty Street." According to google map that's right near the stadium so if you want to have a "Twilight" moment now you know where to go.
