Four Seasons is mixed use, as in it has retail mixed in, or just two types of residential?

It's "mixed use" because the pool/clubhouse/office also functions as a conference center or reception hall space. No retail here, sadly.

There is one in Lehi, and one just opened in South Jordan. There is also one going in Sandy by the Scheels.

I love Buffale Wild Wings

There is also one going in at Fort Union where Marie Calenders used to be.

Remember though, it is local businesses that really spur the local economy. Don't forget about Wing Nutz. mmmmmm....yummy

It's the local one location and local chains that make a city unique.

There's a few of these wing places up and down 5600 west in West Valley.

I thought this was cool:

Logan metro ranked No. 1 small city for technology, business

Quote:
The Logan metropolitan area has — for the second straight year — been ranked No. 1 in the Milken Institute’s best-performing small cities list.

In addition to praising higher education in Logan, the institute lauded Logan’s tech sector, which ranked among the top five in short-term output growth, concentration and diversity in terms of the number of high-tech industries. A total of 179 small metro areas from around the country were ranked in the report.
  • Job growth (2006-11): 12th
  • Job growth (2010-11): 35th
  • Wage growth (2005-10): 17th
  • Wage growth (2009-10): 18th
  • Short-term job growth (5/2011-5/2012): 67th
  • High-tech GDP growth (2006-11): 11th
  • High-tech GDP growth (2010-11): 5th
  • High-tech GDP concentration: 5th
  • Number of high-tech industries: 4th

Salt Lake and Provo were in the top 10 recently for large cities.

An inner-city block in Logan is getting a renovation

Quote:
Al’s Sporting Goods is proud to announce the purchase and immediate development of the former
Bridgerland Square property located at 1000 North and Main Street in Logan, Utah. The 10 acre site will
house a 130,000 square foot retail shopping center development and will include a new 60,000 square
foot Al’s Sporting Goods retail storefront, restaurant pad sites and additional retail shops. The project is
slated to begin construction in June of 2013 with an opening date of early spring 2014.

Al's Sporting Goods new store. Will be double the size of their current one (which is pretty large)

Block to be redeveloped

Pretty suburban in nature, but I like the design of the building and it improves upon that block.

This is great news! That block has needed to be bulldozed for years! I have always hoped that Target would replace it, but this is better than nothing.

Also, I've heard rumor that Logan is getting a Costco (25th North, Main)?? Is that true? I've also heard rumor of a Target going in near the new South Walmart? Any truth to these comments?

While I don't love the sea of parking lot in front of the store, I guess the out parcels facing the street at least make it a little better.

Future Mayor, if I remember right, Logan City has an ordinance that requires up to the street development.

Looks like they're bulldozing a few buildings and then building a few more. Coming out even.

I haven't heard anything about Costco or Target besides people always wanting them. I'm not into suburban styled box stores, which I'm sure they'll be. Hopefully they get placed out in the suburbs unless they could be built with urban principles, which I've seen Target do when needed.

USU update

Update on a few projects going on at USU:

Blue Square student housing: One building open, other two have interior work being completed I believe

Strength & Conditioning center: Should be ready by football season

Huntsman Hall is under construction with undergound work going on now.

The new rec center is going to start this year I believe, since they got approval for funding with a student fee raise last year.

The Legacy Fields project apart of the Rec Center project are completed. These are artificial turf fields used for general use, intramurals, etc.

The Distance Education building (on campus) is in full use:

usu.edu

There's also been two new huge student housing complexes approved in this last year. Let's see if either happen.

Drove through Logan on Friday on our way up to Bear Lake this weekend and saw this buildings addition in full swing. Looked like most of the steel was finished and some of the walls were being put up.

While I was in Garden City my wife and I stopped by the Fire House Pizza to get some thing to eat and noticed there was a billboard showing a Holiday Inn Resort. I took some pictures and sent an email to the developer of it and I will post those in another post below.

It finished a few months ago, they are now building the other stuff around it for some restaurants and what not. The modern take on strip malls I suppose.

Most of the retail along the street is finished or close to being finished and some have tenants going in. I believe Logan has a city ordinance along Main Street that requires sidewalk retail developments.

Anybody up there care to take any pics of this place? That rendering looks really cool.

I originally started this thread when I was living in Cache Valley and I could update people on the few developments that happen there and Tony Anderson would chime in from time to time. Tony Anderson ended up picking up the slack once I moved away but he doesn't seem to have been on since April of this year. I really don't think there is much of anyone up in that area that is a frequent forumer that can take pictures.

I could have taken some pictures Friday when I passed it but that wasn't really on my mind at the time. I was making my way to Bear Lake for the weekend and had a pack of 4 kids and a wife in the car. I am sure my wife would have chewed me out if I even tried to take a picture while driving as she hates it when I drive and take shots of developments.
