What's the big deficiency in your view?

For me, it's the lack of any sort of IFE on the short/medium haul fleet. It's actually not such a big deal in that those flights are rarely over 3 hrs, plus you can download content on your device in preparation ... but it will certainly close that gap and then some.

That’s the main thing. Intra-Europe wifi thanks to the lack of narrowbody IFE.

Also, when you’re flying in J and to not get wifi included, it really feels like nickel and diming.

Is it normal for charters to show up on the FIDS? The Sens charter to Sudbury for Kraft Hockeyville showed up earlier today Thought it was funny how the gate was indicated as “Skyservice”.

Haven't seen that before, although they do sometimes pre-clear at YOW and will depart from a TB gate, and it's listed then.

Yeah that seems to be new with the new FIDS software. Today there’s a cancelled PD ferry flight showing up with the gate listed as the Porter hangar.

When the Sens or opposition NHL teams fly transborder they normally depart from the terminal to preclear US customs. Domestic hockey charters normally depart from the FBOs.

Maybe it's been the case since the update, but just noticed the online FIDs have statuses for Boarding and Final Call, which I think is neat. Can't remember if the in terminal FIDs have also had these in the past?

Breeze Airways launching OGS-MCO twice weekly (Thursday/Sunday) in mid-February. Might have a bit of impact on PD/AC if there's uptake.

I checked the rates and it's pretty even with Porter/AC on most days if you include exchange rates. Definitely not worth the trip

It would have to be $300-400 cheaper to make it remotely competitive with a direct flight from Ottawa. Seems unlikely, unless you are travelling with a bunch of people and don't mind the risk of winter roads or a flight cancellation that costs you a week.

March break it is actually very well priced if people can make the 2x a week work.
Outside of that Ottawa is a bit more expensive but still makes sense to fly from YOW.

OGS is a great choice for people along the Seaway from Cornwall to Kingston. Add in Upstate NY’s population and you can probably fill twice weekly from that population base alone. However, I’m sure the OGS staff were selling Ottawa’s 1.5 million metro as part of their sales pitch to Breeze. I’m sure the fact Breeze scored the EAS contract for OGS made it a lot easier to convince them.

PD / DL partnership

Anyone have updates on the partnership with PD and DL?

I tried booking a flight from YOW -> ATL this month using both PD and DL's websites but I can't find any options that use both Porter and Delta.
Same issue with DL's next busiest hubs - MSP and DTW.

Kind of shocking that you cannot book a flight from a 1.5 million population metro to DL's Atlanta fortress (the busiest airport on the planet) through DL's website.

At least WS starts YOW/YYZ flights later in October so ATL finally becomes bookable...seasonally.

That partnership received really little fanfare, and given DLs relationship by WS seemed like an unnatural choice anyways. Hopefully PD and AA will link up, as that seems to be the natural choice given PD/AS relation (as AS/AA are both oneWorld), and the AC/UA and WS/DL partnerships.

Noticed on Monday June 9th and 16th, LHR isn't running and the slot shifts back to YUL for the day. So LHR is down to the 3x weekly for a couple weeks mid-June.

Yes, the PD/DL partnership was surprising and the inability to book flights suggests the scope of the partnership is pretty limited.

I agree, a PD partnership with AA makes a lot of sense. AA frequently mentions softening domestic demand and too much domestic competition (e.g. Q2/2024 earnings transcript). A PD partnership could feed AA's hubs quite nicely.

I think best case for YOW is for DL to return to YOW with flights to DTW and ATL, as well as a PD/AA partnership.
