The excavation is at full depth and the crane base is in. This is the same crane that was used at Icon Bay, due to the proximity of the Trillium it will have to be installed at full height. It will be a big lift when it happens.

I grabbed this one yesterday. It will be impressive to see the boom installed.

A photo today of the partially replaced crane. The mast was reused, just the top was swapped out.

Does anybody know the status of this development? How much was it set back by the crane collapse? Is there a new crane up yet?

Drove past today. No new crane up. I can't imagine we'll see any progress on either of these untill the insurance is all figured out, and who know's how long that will take. Has anyone heard any other updates?

I walk by the site some weekdays and they are working on the building. It's just slow. They are bringing a portable craned as required. Usually the crane is parked on Brenton for a day or so while they do some heavy lifting.
At this rate they will be lucky to do 1 floor every 2 months. At some point they will need a tower crane back on site.

This is the way they built the smaller 11 story building on South Park. That building didn't have a tower crane. That contractor just parked a portable crane on their site off Brenton.

The contractor working on the Brenton Street development was cited at least four times for violations and workplace injuries between January and September 2019, including one formal warning and three compliance orders.

That's likely pretty unremarkable. I suspect on any given day at any given worksite a govt inspector could find things to write up if they were so inclined.

I’ve heard a luffing jib crane will be setup in the coming weeks. This is the same type of crane used on the TD building which is what I would have expected here in the first place. It can work a tight site without being built full height.

It would be nice if data was given to compare it to other construction sites, but perhaps it wouldn't be of much value anyhow, as these violations most likely have nothing to do with the crane failure regardless.

I suspect once it comes to court, the reasons for the crane failure will be made public. The media will see to that.

It's encouraging that there is a plan to continue work soon.
