I'll probably also be attacked for criticizing a building in Dubai, but I think this and Al Burj are the only two major designs in Dubai right now that I truely dislike. I like this one a lot more than Al Burj (which is just ass ugly) though because it is at least trying to do something different and progressive.

Aesthetically speaking they have done a decent job of hiding the turbines, but I am just not a huge fan of turbines on top of buildings (think disgusting Tubine skygarden WTC proposal, ick!). I think that too much of this building is dedicated to showing off its greeness and its kinda awkward and unwieldy looking to have the top half of the building as nothing but giant fans...

I dunno if I would want it in Chicago (or Milwaukee har har har) because it looks so flimsy because of the top and fans and all. I guess they did a good job for having turbines on top though.

On second thought, I would like for them to build it in Milwaukee because it would be absolutely hilarious to see a gigantic turbine building that is 3.5x taller than the current tallest.

The more I look at it the more I like it. Fits well in Dubai and would be welcome in a handful of cities around the world.

Would look absurd in NY, Chicago or London

Interesting but not beautiful.
It looks like a copy of The Index.

Dubai is the best city to build this tower. Nowhere else you can hide a 400m skyscraper

Fair enough if someone doesn't like this, nothing is liked by everyone anyway. The only reason I critisised Dalton's post is because it seems he just saw "dubai" in the title and barely even bothered looking at the thing before coming to a conclusion.

Anyway what I don't like are a few things down at the bottom, especially those 2 thingys that resemble that giant bean in Chicago (can't remember what it's called). I'd say they're just put in there as a concept rather than exactly what they'll look like. Apart from that I think the tower's awsome

Another beauty but when will Dubai start building things that are also good on the pedestrian level?

Nothing seems to have any street presence. Its more auto-oriented than Atlanta!

it is sure the whole UAE is total auto depedent on. More than whole US, but i see that not a negative Point. The main population or go by car or by bus like the playmobil people in constructions.

It looks like a 'Connect Four' game!
