This building is an excellent fit for the Robie density corridor. If you can build a 19 storey building across from Schmidtville then there should be no issues here.

Hopefully some height gets established in this "next frontier" before HRMxD ruins it with unrealistic height limitations.

They'll never be satisfied... there has been opposition to off peninsula height (see Waterton II).

The people who speak out against new development aren't one big group. In every neighbourhood there are some local people who will have a problem with any new proposal.

This is part of why NIMBY sentiment should be ignored. These people cannot be satisfied.

I'll be there as well. Just look for the only person who lives nearby that will support this.

Turn-out should be low for this PIM. Most residents in the general area rent (not own), are not well-established here, and with the Gladstones nearby having zero negative impact on the area I think this shouldn't cause as much uproar as a first tower for the area.

The opposition doesn't live close to this development either. And they will definitely express their disapproval.

I hope you reconsider. This meeting needs to hear some rational opinions.

I was just thinking about this last night - considering that schedule 'q' of the Peninsula bylaw already allows a development agreement for most of the lands, while there may be opposition, I suspect this will probably get approved.

It's a brain-dead job if that helps All you have to think at HRM Traffic is how do I make it not work effeciently? Also "CCF" is important (Cars Come First). You will have to remove the words bicycle, cyclist, pedestrian and active transportation from your vocabulary. I kid you not I have had many fights with this guy over the years (somehow my emails go ONLY to him) and my last one was summed up like this; North Street is NOT considered a main road, crosswalks are not installed on two-lane roads, and crosswalks are banned for 200 metres from signalized intersections. For rebutal I pointed out the congestion on North Street, crosswalks on similar streets, and that many signalized intersections have crosswalks nearby. He responded by saying not all streets are equal and because unmarked crosswalks are legal cars will magically start obeying all traffic laws and allow you to cross.

Back on topic I and Alps attended. I gave a short speech in support of this project. In all over fifty people showed up and it was a 2:1 ratio of naysayers to supporters. There was a lot of talk about St. Joseph's Square, 5552 Kaye and the Young Street Towers which went either way. As per typical almost everybody was in favour of development, just not density of this amount. One thing that probably helped was the Genivar developer at the meeting lives in the neighbourhood so he was making personal connections with the proposal and its (positive) impact.
