I remember when they were planted. Along about 1984, when Manuel's at
3rd and Congress opened (been eating there all these years!) the city decided to try to spruce up Congress Ave by planting these trees (some sort of deciduous oak). For years, the trees received little care, in keeping with the general neglect of downtown and Congress Ave in that decade. But eventually the trees recovered and grew, and the avenue started looking better overall. I think with all the new residents moving downtown, it can only get better with time.

Great pics, fellas!

It's easy to see why Austin has the best reputation in Texas. The boom downtown makes this native Houstonian jealous!

Wow, these pictures sure do capture the essence of the current construction boom in downtown Austin, all of the pictures are just awesome. It's a pity I had classes as I sure would have gone to the meet otherwise.

By the way, are there any renderings of what the goodwill site will look like?
