And if you check the Kings Wharf thread I posted an email from Fares today saying that contractors are on site for preliminary testing and infrastructure work should begin next month with phase 1 sales starting in the end of winter.

Just the boardwalk is pretty significant in this case I think (though I really hope the rest happens soon as well). This is the last piece of the downtown waterfront that has not been improved and it's really not up to par.

Another good example....the Old Infirmary Lands....they managed to become Halifax's biigest parking lot...

the fencing is up, although there is still gaps that you can walk through and also there is also a backhoe on the site, no big news though

Keep in mind that this is only the completion of the boardwalk and according to Colin MacLean of the Waterfront Development Corp it in no way is tied to the development of the land. According to an article in the Coast "Millennium Corp, the developer, is still wrangling with Waterfront Development over terms and trying to secure financing"

That's odd. the boardwalk shown in that document is not the same shown in the development agreement for the block. I know they are being done separately but I would have thought they would match up. This one seems to just be square, I liked the other, it was rounded and more interesting. And my discussions with WDCL gave me the distinct impression that this development would start at soon as the boardwalk is complete.

I'm not saying it won't start, just letting you know what I read. The boardwalk seems to be alot bigger than what the development indicated. If they want to get out passed the shoreline it really needs to be built the way the billboard shows. I am not dissapointed as it will allow you to get a great view out the harbour.

I don't have any other information about this, but it is important to note at least that the writers of The Coast have been known to put a bit of (negative) spin on development-related information.

Either way, I'm happy that these improvements are proceeding.

While this is good news the only thing i dislike about it is the right angle at Bishops Landing. THey should round that out make it smoother

Looks like things must be underway now, there appears to be some kind of boom in the water similar to what they use awound the Navy ships, I would assume to limit environmental impact of construction.

for anyone who is interested web cam 9 on halifaxwebcams.ca has a nice view of the area, a little bir distant, but a great way to keep track of this while I'm out of town.
