hmmm.. they were actually pouring cement around 4:30 today. Looks like it must have been something small or else a test. Hopefully it will happen this weekend though

I was down there this morning for the start of the pour. I got some great shots and will try to post them tonight if I can get home from work at a decent hour. I was talking with some guys down there and it sounded like this pour is going to be done in 2 sections. They will do the core part of the building today and the out perimeter another day. The Hotel Monaco wouldn't let them pour into the night so that have to break it up into two different days, during the day.

thanks for the pics tmac.

It is nice to be able to look at the webcam and see a whole concrete floor on the bottom of that pit for the tower finally. I hope the core can rise here shortly.

It appears to me like we have an answer to one of our earlier questions. Look what is piled up on the northwest side of the crane. Appears to be I-beams to me, making 222 S. Main a steel building, not reinforced concrete. I hope it starts to rise soon.

That's incredibly good to know! I'm quite excited to see 222 S Main finally lift from the hole. Salt Lake's skyline is definitely ready for change.

I can't wait for it to be up and complete. I really like the two blocks between 2nd/3rd S and SW Temple/State Street.

Do you know if civilians will be allowed onto the uppermost floors when the building is completed? Anyone?

Down at the site this morning. Met two guys down there who are with the company that is going to spray the side walls this week. They said that they are to start on Monday and it will take them about 5 days to get it finished. The people putting up the backing were running into problems with the walls pushing out and they had to bring in the machine to drive more tie-backs in the north wall to hold it back and keep it from bulging out. Also, you can say good-bye to the 2 trees in front of the site as they should be getting cut down any day now. Here are the photos.

These are the guys that are with the company that is doing the side-walls.
