A valid point. Let me rephrase "extra space the developers want".

There was one that was not granted. I'm not sure if it made it all the way to the DRC though. There was a proposal for an 8 storey apartment on Artillery Place.

According to the rumour mill Crombie is actively working on this and it's expected to be their next project. They have many development sites around Scotia Square, with a total potential in the 2,000 unit range.

From an old promotional video I know they had plans for another apt. building on Brunswick st. across from the trinity site. Given how many units are planned, I’d say it’s thankfully still in the tunnel.

There were massing models for the Brunswick Place site posted a while ago. The little bend at the Brunswick and Cogswell intersection could make more highrises around here visually interesting, assuming they conform to the street well. The Brunswick Place site is at the visual terminus of the Brunswick canyon looking north, and a new canyon or streetwall north of Cogswell would terminate with the old apartment buildings and Scotia Square.

I think the 2,000 unit estimate includes only a portion of the Cogswell lands and adjacent underused sites. It could be that maybe 5,000-10,000 more people will end up living around there 10 years from now. A game changer for Gottingen, Barrington, Granville Mall and Historic Properties.

Brunswick Place and their little parkade next door could easily fit 3 or 4 towers that stretched to the top of the rampart maximum. I don't think any viewplane cuts across it. That site alone could hold 1000 units.

Has this video ever been posted? Very impressive... it will tie everything together with the trinity site across the street.

Is it all still planned?

That works!

Pretty sure I've seen it before - it's from 2017.

I'm guessing that at least one of those developments will be on hold until Cogswell is reconfigured. Now that I think of it, wasn't there something going on with that little triangle of land at the end of the Granville Mall? Like a land swap deal with the city or something like that?

As an aside, I can't help but think that the proposals already look dated, even though the video is only 4 years old...

It was announced this past week that Crombie is proceeding with Westhill. Breaking ground in 2022.

18 stories and 250 residential units.

Is it still the the original design? .. initially, it was deemed too close to Duke Tower..... would be nice to see what they are proposing...

Nice! Thanks for the info.

I'm interested in the one on Brunswick in the video (the tower that would be in the parking lot of the call centre building, west of the existing brick tower).

I'm surprised they're not moving on that lot. a) It isn't impacted by Cogswell and b) with everything going on right now, it only needs to be excavated and could start (if approved under new planning requirements).

Are these up to date? Did they have to make any changes?

Crombie has updated their Website (link to "Developments") and a new rendering is available. Aslo noted, withough renderings:
  • Brunswick Place (Pre-Development) - assumed to be integrated with Cogswell
  • Park West (Pre-developement) - assumed to be Sobey's and former Canadian Tire site
