I've also been wondering about the 1400 East Hyde Park Boulevard project. A team of guys was surveying the parking lot Friday morning.

I think they closed on the sale of the property, given that UCPD has now moved out of the existing building, but no new news. Olympia now has a page up about it , but nothing about a construction or opening date.

I believe they are waiting on pre-sales before starting construction.

Thanks! Will be curious to hear what's up with 53rd and Cornell!

Any thoughts on whether 53rd and Cornell will likely to stay close to the previously proposed designs--as Solstice and Vue53 seemed to do--or do you foresee a major change? Condo to apartment?

I see that Google Maps Street View is finally updated for North Campus to show post-completion images.

You can also do cool stuff like go backward in time to see how it looked with Pierce using their time machine.

When the bought the site, they said they were going to do something different (whatever that means) than L3 and that they were hiring architects (previous design was by Antunovich). I'm excited to see what they have in store.

You can see the work being done on LASR on Google Street View. Haven't seen pics anywhere else:

Waiting on the 53rd/Cornell meeting to start. Looks like whatever the proposal is, SCB is the architect. I'll try to post more once the meeting has started.

Not bad. Certainly better than the previous proposal for that location. Any word on retail space?

Pretty much the entire base is retail, with the exception of the garage entrance on Cornell.

They plan to have the PD approved in the spring for a summer or fall construction start. Some of the parking is for retail and people who use the current lot, from what was said it sounded like they would have preferred less but knew how much people would bitch. I did bring up the possibility of them funding improvements to the 53rd St Metra station and they liked that idea.

I was just searching for an article about this community meeting. I'm surprised I wasn't able to find a single one.

not sure why but that 53rd/Cornell building is giving me 1001 south state vibes probably just the curvature. I like how the tower meets the ground through the base, but idk how i feel about the facade just yet. love the retail though
