Generally and unfortunately, I think the answer is yes.

It’s been pretty mellow in Toronto the past couple weeks. No homicides yet for the city.

Toronto ended 2020 with 462 shootings compared to 492 in 2019.

A lot of people very upset that it took this long to name them.

They might be alright. It’s a convoluted case. The murdered inmate raped and killed a Moravian woman (Czech religious group with long history in Labrador). She was beloved by correctional workers and inmates in Labrador for decades volunteering with them. Inmate was moved to St. John’s for his safety, ironically. A lot of inmates in the province are certainly very pleased he’s been killed.

^ I guess this is a form of vigilante justice, and shades of the Epstein case, except the Epstein case has unknown perpetrators. Either way there should be no excuses made for such a breach of trust in the system.

Looks like Manitoba was first again for per capita homicides in 2020:

https://homicidecanada.com/prelimina...homicide-rate/

Also Sarnia has had four seemingly unrelated homicides already in 2021. Not sure what's up with that.

Not a homicide but this hard not to share.

https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/j...er-du-spvm.php

Suspect gets stopped for using his phone while driving. While the officer is returning to his car, the suspect attacks him with an iron bar and starts beating him over the head. The suspect manages to get hold of the cops gun. The off8cer runs away while the suspect chases him with his own gun and even starts shooting. The cop manages to hide in an old ladys appartment. Meanwhile, the suspect returns to his car and calls the police to try to trick them into going to another direction. In the end he is arrested nearby at his appartment. Charged with a plethora of crimes.

Well, it turns out they got the wrong guy and an absolute maniac is on the loose. Good job spvm.

This news comes on the same day two female cops were beat up by a guy who was getting beat by his wife. And a third female cop got pepper sprayed by one of her own. Not a good day for the spvm.

There were a lot of bizarre things the first story that now make a lot more sense. I guess he wasn't calling 911 to "put the police on the wrong track", but rather because he was a concerned citizen calling for help.

At the very least, that corroborates with his character. As for his compensation...

The worrisome thing is they even charged him and he spent six days in custody, purely based off the testimony of an officer who likely didn't see his assailant.

And they're refusing to apologize.

Winnipeg is doing well two months into 2021, Montreal and Edmonton seem rather high already for this year.
Another surprise is to see Halifax at 3 homicides already this year, I'm not sure if that's typical or not though,
I know last year was a tough year for Nova Scotia as a whole.

Not sure what's going on in Sarnia Ontario too.

I think Sherbrooke had a murder in recent days.

From what I think I heard (I was distracted) on TVA, a 19 year old male was found stabbed in a parking lot and later died.

You don't often hear about violent crime in Sherbrooke.

My guess is that some years they have zero murders.
