There is an elevator core, the NW one, that has no cut-out for a door on any of the parking levels. There is a small opening to this core on P3 and they have some pipes running water in the cores.
Ya, the Free Press certainly misreported when they said the crane was going to go on the elevator shaft.

The key there is - read the Free Press for story's not for details.

Check out this awesome simulation for the tower crane usage of the new world's tallest skyscraper, the Jedah Tower. NINE different tower cranes will be used throughout construction. Amazing! It seems now that there is nothing humans can't build (other than machines for time travel or travelling at the speed of light).

@DowntownPeggy
Hmmm...I notice something a little different added to our skyline...

@brent_bellamy
Crane is up for Winnipeg’s new tallest building! A 42 storey residential tower on top of the underground concourse. Will bring almost 700 permanent residents to the #PortageandMain area.

Hopefully another developer will buy the land and actually build a tower; hell, it doesn't have to be as tall.

Thanks to everyone for posting the great construction photos. I'm currently living outside of Winnipeg, but hoping to return soon. It's great to see such a high-profile project underway!

Still, it's great to see how busy it is becoming around 300 Main.
I'm currently accepting formal apologies. "I'm sorry" is great! Also accepted will be "you were right all along", or if admitting error is difficult, "You're probably very handsome".

Also, you all clearly saw the steel frame for the cran get installed... where else was the crane gonna go but southwest

Exactly. It needs to be even taller. Break the 50 story mark

LOL, ideally yeah, but even if it's half the height, but with a design not seen in Winnipeg, I would be elated. Example:

I would be fine to have more surface lots filled with these types of developments

Agreed...BUT...size does matter in certain locations: all those examples IMO would be too small for the SkyCity site, save the 2nd one. Key locations need the most bang for the buck. The second example would look great in the lot at Notre Dame/ Ellice/Smith too.
