I didnt read the novel. But her issue seems to be with the process and the fact that some people are gardening on land they dont own.

Gripe with the process, okay. People squatting, nope.

She could have the most valid point in the world but that meandering novel taking us through her day at UPS and her feelings about Peter Nygard, make it difficult to comprehend.

What was that last ten pages? Rambling e-mails or something? It’s hard to even figure out.

She references a 2008 report commissioned by the WBDC (she was involved) that literally acknowledges the community garden as a temporary fixture to avoid surface parking. She should be happy it lasted this long.

Now, that being said – I do think the city should look to relocate a community garden (or several) in one of the numerous parks or open spaces in Wolseley/West Broadway. But this is prime real estate on a bustling and ever-improving strip. She should be so enthused it will allow more people to revel in her utopian neighbourhood. WB Neighbourhood Centre, Vimy Ridge, hell team up with a school for a leaning opportunity and put one at Laura Secord or Mulvey School. Hey – Canada Life has a perfect open field for a garden!

I think I'd like to challenge the no-fogging zone allowance at the Supreme Court. Sure they can stop at your house, but if I'm your neighbour why should I have to heed your desires at the destruction of mine.

Seems like she has issues. What was that part about the ozone layer and deep space cold seeping in through holes? This is scary, but still entertaining to read. So very uninformed and yet remarkably convinced she is doing ‘research’.

Don't really have anything to add. Just wanted to make sure this is highlighted as it can really be used to define what society has become.

the past few years that lot has been nothing but a patch of weeds. didn't see her in there plucking the thistle and dandelions or picking up syringes... focus should be put on the land behind the Broadway community centre as previously stated.

Thing is somebody owns that land. So she has pretty much zero say in what's happening beyond letting the city know she is in the 'against' column.

That's Someone who has too much time on their hands. There are agencies & people who could benefit from true real concern for the marginalized and disenfranchised by volunteering..
Makes you wonder if there are some screws in need of tightening.

Nygard the Rape King’s Sherbrook location is about to be sold to a flooring company called Total Flooring.

I say, Total Boring.

Probably not great news for the aesthetic of the streetscape:

Probably not going to be any worse than Nygard with their garish signage...

another flooring place should open across the street at the other building that's for lease and we can finally have a kind of themed flooring district!

Maybe a construction and home renovation district? Considering Stellas constantly catching fire with WPS/WFPS having no idea as to why, the constant apartment & house fires, along with the deteriorating housing stock in old parts of Winnipeg... a flooring, construction, home reno & fire alarms/fire safety district might actually do alot of good down Sherbrooke & Maryland. The local businesses would sure appreciate the high-rollers, safety guys and salesmen dropping stacks at Foodfare & other places, and just think of the trickle-down effect on the pawn shops!
