They should just get the Canucks/Flames to play their games on one day and get it over with. Who the hell is even watching these games?

Calgary could potentially pass 2 other teams in the league standings, Vancouver could pass 6 other teams. The draft positions of several teams could be affected by the results of those 3 games.

That first Florida/Tampa game was as good a hockey game as I've seen.

Watching that I couldn't help but wonder how any team that comes out of the North would fare in that type of game...

Indeed and it might be the series of the playoffs to be honest.

I wonder if Canadian teams have to face American teams, if the American teams will basically get all the home games and the Canadian teams having to play all their playoff games on the road

Then that basically puts the Canadian playoff teams at a disadvantage

What do you mean "if" and by Canadian "teams"?

A single Canadian team will wind up playing at least one American team... two if they make the finals. That's how it's set up.

The Canadian team will have a US "home" arena. I imagine the league already has it planned out which arenas are in play for each potential Canadian final 4 team. Obviously, Buffalo has been talked about as Toronto's home, and I have heard speculation in some sports media that MSG might be for the Habs. I have heard Denver might be home to Edmonton or Winnipeg if the Avs don't make it that far. Will be interesting to see what comes of it all. Definitely will be the US team's advantage, no matter which Canadian team makes it that far.

The government will come though at the last minute. The Liberals can't afford loose support given that Hockey is a national sport.

Raptors season started months ago when no one was vaccinated. By the time a Canadian team comes out of the North division, we're talking about a vaccinated hockey team coming into a country with 70%+ of the country having received a first dose.

Okay but still even so the fact that the Leafs got to play at home at Scotiabank Arena and teams like the Raptors, Blue Jays and Toronto FC have to play their games away from home is unfair

Hell, the CanMNT and CanWNT can't play any of their soccer here in Canada either so again how is this fair

Ahh yes, why didn't we think about also setting up a purely Canadian division in the NBA and MLB so that we could play in our home arenas?!

There are lots of rumours in Quebec that one of the relaxed measures Legault will announce today will be to allow spectators at Habs playoff games.

We don't have to do the full US thing but it sure would be nice and not unreasonable to have a modest amount of fans in the building. Even 2,000 would be fine in my books.
