The rendering below seems close to what is being built in terms of the window arrangements, with some slight differences (the glass panels don't look as good as in the rendering though).

Note the brick here is more brown. the Panels are very very red.
I feel the rendering is going to look better then the finished building.

Aside from the weird mismatch of the "brick" panels, it is looking better than I thought it would and chances are that mismatched area will be covered up by new development next door anyway.

This one is starting to come together a bit better.
Work has also started on phase 2 of Cornwallis Park which includes the small amphitheatre space.

This looks ok. The glass distracts ones glaze from the fake textured brick.

It also helps that a lot of the shots are at a distance where fine detail is lost. From a distance it looks fine. The problem is when you have to walk/drive past it.

It's interesting how many of these buildings have little penthouses on top. Are these encouraged by HRM by Design? Are they special units that the developers themselves live in (perhaps for sale in the future without capital gains thanks to the primary residence exemption)?

This one is getting MUCH better. Now that the glass is going in issues with the brick are much less noticeable. And I actually like the window choices better than the renderings.

The only thing that's not doing it for me is the little "hat" of a penthouse. It looks really disproportioned to what's a pretty solid building underneath.

What a horrible building. Totally out of context being directly across from the Grand Olde Lady...Hotel Nova Scotian and directly across from one of the few urban pocket parks we have with a statue. Not sure it would even fit in Burnside.

It's achitectura is bello my chiquito. Bello. Entiendido? And the rojas bricks is the perfect contexts for the Grandes Olde Madre.

And look at those ventanas!! Bello! Bello! Bello! You must open your eyes my little one, listen to Mama!

Mama want to see much many buildings this esta one in alls of the Halifax.

Agreed. I think the building would be fine in the suburbs, but definitely below the standards I'd expect to see given its location.

Even sadder is that we will likely see an equally uninspiring building on the site of the victorian Elmwood next door. Really disappointing, to be honest. Once crap like this is built we are going to be stuck with it for the remainder of most of our lifetimes.
