When I got back from winter break it was sunny and ice cold, after a few days it snowed and slowly transitioned to the usual low 50's and raining. Last week there was one warm sunny day where everyone went outside and enjoyed the random nice weather. Today looked like another one of those sunny days when I woke up so I decided to take pictures. Halfway through my walk it started to rain so I couldn't enjoy the walk or take the pictures that I wanted to take. I also had to cut my walk short and take the MAX back home because I was sick of getting rained on in the cold. It was really nice to go out and take pictures again after a few weeks of rain. I need to do it more often and go to different neighborhoods.

I got stuck in traffic going back into Portland for almost 8 hours.
Lots of idiots were on the roads during the snow storm. I was shocked to see how many people have no idea how to drive in the snow. This mercedes SLK trying to go up the hill and failing is just one example of many clueless unprepared drives I encountered that day.
I must say even though I complain about Edmontons weather, from a photographic perspective, I am glad it is consistent. I would hate having to play it by ear in the 3-4 months of cooler Portland weather when taking photos. Will it rain or won't it? And to be so limited.
But it seems you managed to pull together enough decent shots. And just think, winter will be over soon.
Portland has some beautiful mansions in the hills, just beautiful. Were most of these taken in the Goose Hollow?
Great shots, man! It's funny how Portlanders complain about the weather. We've experienced about four days that I can recall that I would consider "cold" (that snow lasted for hours only). By and large, winters here are balmy. Hell, many plants and trees started budding (and even blooming) in January. I think the constant complaining about the "bad weather" is subconscious and intended to keep people from moving here. As you know, Oregonians are allergic to Californians.

As former Oregon Governor Tom McCall said in the '70s about Oregon tourism: "Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But for heaven's sake, don't come here to live."
Great shots from and of the west hills, I live at the bottom of them and enjoy taking that walk up there from time to time.
And that snowstorm was by far some of the stupidest things I have seen people do here...I was coming home from Spokane that day and the weather made it sound like it was going to be raining in Portland when I got there, I was not expecting pure gridlock and panic over a little bit of snow.
Great shots by the way, the shots in traffic made me laugh because you were moving so slow you could actually use your camera.
I also think Sam Adams said it best, the people that live west of the hills needs to realize that there is a chance that it will snow at least once every winter in Portland, so carry some damn chains in your trunk for when you need them because clearly, they will be needed at least once every year.

Trust me Portland's weather is much more predictable and stable than any Canadian city (except Vancouver) and any city in the Midwest.
