Christmas/Holiday Decorations in your city or region

Figured might a fun thread this December, to give some sort of jolliness to this terrible year.

Essentially, what are some Christmas or holiday decorations in your city or state or region or town? Could be photos of houses or skyscrapers or parks or whatever that show the holiday spirit. If your in a suburb, maybe some snapshots of homes that took the effort to really showcase the holiday spirit via lights or decorations.

Or just descriptions of what's done in your city.

Does your city for example put a big tree or is there maybe someone in your neighborhood that goes ape sh*t with the decorations... and so on.

They're still having the Dyker display bus tours, but with Covid limits, obviously.

I assume Dyker will still go all-out, as they did for Halloween a few weeks ago.

The Distillery Christmas Market is back as usual this year, though much, much less busy than normal:

Anecdotally, there seems to be quite a bit more decoration on houses so far this year. No photos of those, but here's a tree in the empty financial district instead: (kinda surprised they even bothered, but I ain't complaining)

Some of those pics of the riverwalk are outdated - they've been draping LED lights on the trees for a few years now, you can tell the difference between the old incandescents and the new LED's - not nearly as bright or warm glow. I miss the old ones

I wonder if they still do the luminarias along the river too?

LEDs come in any color temperature (pretty much the full Kelvin range)... soft and warm to cool and blinding bluish-white.

The people who buy them just don't have a fucking clue.

They haven't really come out with color LED christmas lights that imitate the old incandescents though. They still have a cold, dull glow.

Well, that issue is because the old incandescent christmas bulbs are not actually producing colored light; they are just painted/colored glass, with a 2700K filament inside

Many LED christmas bulbs actually emit the various colors, or they just use the cheap 5000K bright white LED with colored glass or plastic.

They do make warmer LED christmas lights though. Or, you can just get strands of 2700K LED "cafe" lights and paint the bulbs various colors

Perhaps with color lights but white ones at least are readily available in warmer white.

In honor of last night's tree lighting ceremony, here's an overhead of Rockefeller Plaza, rink, and tree that I took a couple years ago:

Is the Zilker Christmas Tree a permanent structure, for example a radio mast or is it disassembled after Christmas?

The Zilker Tree is a permanent structure. It's one of Austin's Moonlight Towers. It normally looks like this.
