Really? What's the point of preserving the original structure if you are going to make it unrecognizable? IMO this is worse than the structure falling into ruin. At least then it would still be authentic. This looks no different than any present day faux historic building.

The only real changes they're making to the original are the addition of the balconies and, of course, the new wings. Assuming the tower is being removed and this isn't just a quick and easy render, that and those should be the only changes to the existing portion.

The city has very strict guidelines about the types of materials that can be used so the new portions should be very close to the existing style.

I think it's going to end up being something between Anderson House and the Bluedrop building.

The Marda Loop area is rollin the rest of the city hasn't been doing much lately. Apparently a big year coming up though. Apparently the WAM development (the re activation of the Astoria site) is going to begin sometime this summer, with two towers and over 500 units total.

Another excellent project for Kensington... it is aptly named The Kensington!
It is replacing a hideous blight on the urban feel of Kensington (the Carpenters Union building), a small surface parking lot, and a small 70s era retail building.

Kensington's OK! The black color panels and glass aren't my favorite, but it's better than the shity yellows and orange colors on some of the other low-rise stuff being built!

Finally, a version of the Ilôt Irving project which seems like it will go forward. It will replace this ugly surface parking lot which, amongst other things, serves as a public toilet on week nights.

A project had been proposed last year but a majority of the neighbourhood's residents had vetoed it down, claiming it was ferocious densification and that it blocked their view of the Laurentian mountains. Here's the rejected project.

A new rendering of Calgary's Place 10. This one is going ahead on speculation, site prep has begun and everything is on schedule according to some of our forumers in the development community. Another entire city block of surface parking eliminated! 10th Avenue is going to be the new 17th by 2020.

I suspect no one posted it because it's an embarrassment. Every other city has proper urban buildings in this thread, while our latest contribution is a collection of big boxes strewn around a parking lot.

^Well they add every little one, including these 3-10 storey small things. If we did that in Toronto, this page would be loaded up nonstop. We are spoiled here though, only 30+ storey projects get put here usually.

I'm dying for a 30 floor/storey proposal right now. Toronto has been in a proposal funk for the past few weeks... Seems like we use to get at least one decent project a week. Too much inventory in the pipeline and thr developers need to clear that out before we see anything new.

Unfortunately not every city can have as much development as Toronto. Also, we don't post every single little project here, just the nice ones, or the large (widespread) ones like Currie Barracks.
