It will be. They already have the foundation started on the East Tower. They will start building upward when the West Tower tops out.

Having dug the foundations doesn't mean that the design is finalized. The mention of "harmony" between the two towers seems to suggest that it won't be an identical twin.

So far, Guangzhou's skyline is not very distinctive... but things are about to change.

Thanks for all the updates, Rise To The Top. Do you know if the city plans to demo the residential area halfway between CITIC Plaza and the Twin Towers, just south of the Tiyu Xilu station and north of Huangpu Dadao? It looks like the master plan is to have a clean line of sight between those tall building clusters.

Years ago I used to buy DVDs in the area, but recently the neighborhood seemed to clean up and gain a lot of nice shops and so forth.

^^ That is the first pic I have seen Guangzhou with clear skies. The new skyline is coming along real nice.

Wow, hadn't seen this thread. I really like these towers. They were designed right and I think both towers would look better. I don't see how the harmony will be kept with a different design for the second tower. I love the atrium part though.

Cool

hey guys. i know that the guangzhou twin towers look like this
but i envisioned two supertall superslim massive towers connected by enormous sky bridges with small rainforest's on top to reduce pollution a little. occupying the top 100-200 meters of each tower would be a 7star hotel like the burj al Arab covered in a sparkling glass dome lit up with led lights to make them glow. the towers each around 1 km tall would become the showpiece of guangzhou, china and the world. the towers would also house 29 observation decks:
9 of them would be on the skybridges
2 would be on the highest level of each tower
and the other 18 would be on the levels of the skybridges looking at the entire city.

The East tower is slated to be 440m to the roof versus the West tower's 432m roof (extra 7m is the helipad). No design change has been slated.

I wonder if the slight imbalance will be visible.
If it is, better make it a real imbalance.

I really hope the other tower gets built. These are by far one of the best twin towers ever built. And I actually think a little imbalance would look nice. If both look the same then it's too organized. If both towers are really imbalanced then it will just look silly. But having a little thing sticking out of one of the towers will make it look good. Imo.

Honestly I was a bit skeptical to the design in the beginning,
but It seems like it has turned out good so far.
Can't wait for the cladding.

I was hoping for something more colour-less than that. The transparency is satisfying though.

Let's see how it looks on a larger scale.

With the transparency you'll be able to see the pattern of the beams. It's like these towers and the Guangzhou Tv tower were designed to match.
