It's probably pretty much the same tower, much as Ghery's Beekman tower looks a lot like some of the older renderings.

Here's the good news about this one:

Unlike the clock tower, the annex is not a city landmark, so is not subject to review by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Libeskind added that the project is being designed as-of-right, and will not need any special zoning changes.

I'll edit my previous comment. I was hesitant (prior to render) because i thought this was going to be on the 23rd and Madison corner. It never occurred to me that this was going to be on the other end of the block on Park Ave. that is more than enough space from the clocktower to not look over imposing. the design is awesome. i would love the design to be in NYC. Probably not on that exact spot though. not because of the clock tower or anything, but because the design has seemingly no relation whatsoever to its base. its a gaudy pairing. Another design that incorporates the original 1 mad ave design into a highrise would be ideal for me. but absolutely build this blue tubey tower in the city. perhaps across 23rd st so that its next to 1 mad park and 20e22nd st

I dont know what the height of this lovely tower is supposed to be, but:

937 feet = 285.6 M

or,

274 M = 899 feet

This is truly modern architecture. I applaud the architect on his ingenuity and beautiful design.

I'm curious how they get the trees (and what happens if they grow too large) there though. Will they bring up grown trees or plant them there as seeds? If it was the latter it would be interesting to see the pricing of units as the the trees got bigger and lusher.

There are a lot of apartment buildings with trees or greenspace on the roof. This just takes it a step further, and would be the most visible because of the design.
