That was a licensed (franchise) store operated by the Fairchild group (they own the mall).. It was the only one in Canada - they never expanded. Their connection with Daiso ended a while ago and they converted the former Daiso store to their own brand, Oomomo. They have opened a number of locations.

yea this is the real deal from Japan lol. I do like Oomomo, they have been carrying less and less Daiso stock recently though, there is no shortage of suppliers for them at least.

They also operate Daiso stores in Australia, they were pretty good there.

What I noticed in Tokyo was the Daiso stores seemed to be common in residential neighbourhoods, like often you would see a 7-11 or Lawson etc next to a Daiso, not too big but handy for everyday items.

Is it going to take someone working downtown dying for something to change? We already have thousands of overdose deaths and that doesn’t change anything.

The latest was probably the one on Davie? I remember when that announced it was opening I was so surprised, I hadn't heard of a new one in years and years. It was the place my parents went, way before Home Depot/Lowes became to go-to

Gandy HH is moving from West 4th. Same owner as the Blight and Davie locations I think.

Ironically even with the bigger store they'll still have to endure not having back lane access-the 4th Ave store is the Most Awkward Design Ever and they have to take deliveries through the front door and Broadway will be just as bad.
