Posted in another thread, this is probably my favorite shot of Atlanta's skyline.

Granted, this particular picture is almost 15 years old. But still, I like the vantage point.

If Atlanta *only* improved downtown/midtown(transit, safety, infill, new towers, amenities, etc), it would still be one of the top American cities for urbanity. It packs a lot of urbanity in a relatively small area.

And there's NOTHING to slow it down either. People and companies are moving into the core, plus midtown has the ability to absorb it as well. Excited to see the affordable housing possibilities in Dotwntown however as well. Atlanta, while it has always been a big city with plenty of things to do, was lacking the denser look. I am 24, and have had season tickets to Georgia Tech football games sinceI was a kid, went to Grady High. It's unreal how much the city has changed. Let's keep this momentum going. My brother will be attending Georgia State next year. I'm excited for him to be here right in the middle of it!

What year is this pic? It has to be at least 30 years old... Great find.

Its from the Midtown Alliance 40 year anniversary and it was only labeled "1980's". Since Wikipedia shows that One Atlantic Center was completed in 1987, we can assume that its from the mid '80s.

Let's hope the next 30 are just as dramatic.

Midtown Growth

Well… we have seen 22 new buildings (mostly high-rise) added or currently under construction within Midtown Atlanta in just 6+ years! At this pace – or anywhere close - 30 years should be crazy!

So, unless Millennials decide that they hate living in urban environments, I think we may be seeing even more dramatic changes in the Midtown skyline than we see in the two comparison photos – especially with the trajectory of GT & the resulting corporate relocations to Midtown. I also could imagine a new era of the middle-age population desiring to live in or near Midtown – the ones that enjoy a youthful vibe in their later years rather than just living out their lives playing Bingo or Golf in suburbia.

So hopefully as more people keep coming, we may see municipal amenities grow and even more choices in places to spend our leisure time, dinning, shopping, visiting our parks or just hanging out with friends.
