Tour the landmark Sears Building in Boyle Heights

Technically not Downtown, but this is pretty significant in an adjacent neighborhood.

Does anyone know when/if the permanent Broadway road diet is supposed to happen?

It’s full steam ahead for the big mixed-use project set to rise in that weird dead zone south of Chinatown and west of El Pueblo and Olvera Street. The project known as LA Plaza Cultura Village broke ground last week, reports Urbanize LA.

Onyx and E. on Grand are just awful, awful, awful designs, but the other ones are slowly growing on me.

Agreed.
The E. on Grand looks to be so low budget (who the Hell is AFCO?), and the Onyx, is not too bad except for the garish colors. I remember a few years back Blackcat and I joking about TCA as standing for Total Clown Act (I think that they saw that and if I'm not mistaken they took Blackcat to task). I came up with that because this design's color scheme looked so clownish.

I realize that by 2020 downtown Los Angeles will have over 100,000 fairly affluent residents but just how many large food markets can it support?

The cool thing about E on Grand though is how little of the block it takes up.

In that picture, most people will see a sea of 7 story boxes.

I see a sea of 1-2 story buildings that need to be bulldozed Asap with a mix of 7 stories and towers.

From 2 days ago. Didn't feel there was much to show so I didn't upload here.

One highlight from Onni 50 story is that they've poured the rat mats.

I post more frequently on the DTLA Development page https://www.facebook.com/groups/DtlaDev/

Havent had time to flickr upload the few hundred development photos I'm sitting on.

^^^ Looks like phase one of metropolis.....I'll take it..... Surprised they were serious about cramming two towers on that site. These towers will have a combined 1100 hotel rooms. More reasoning to say that AEG was full of SH** for their reason on "canceling" their tower on Olympic. Pure BS.

*Edit*
JESUS ! the Urbanize comments are freaking ridiculous ! I thought that Urbanize was more for us Architecture buffs, Not for nimby morons !

One quote

"Before the city approves anymore towers, they need to assure that they can ease traffic. They need to add 5 lanes for traffic in each direction"

Shoot me. Please tell me that was sarcasm !
