Fomer Red Hill School Site

Located at Albright and Mt. Albion/Harrisford its a decent sized piece of land.

Have noticed soil testing the past several days.

Its about 90 seconds to RHVP. A low to mid rise condo would look good here. Anyone know of any plans?

What part of the property is being tested?

There's no proposal yet, according to the city's development applications map. But there are a couple of references to files for the Committee of Adjustment, so perhaps a zoning change is coming.

I always assumed the school board would eventually sell that land, and more townhouses would be built there (perhaps an extension of the current subdivision being built on the old playing field fronting Mount Albion). A couple of 5-6+ storey condos would be good too.

EDIT: it went up for sale a year ago. Perhaps someone is kicking the tires on it now.

I used to be a student at Red Hill in the 1970s.

This is right beside that new townhouse development under construction right now, right? That too was on surplus HWDSB lands. I wonder why they didn't just sell the whole thing off at once.

This past weekend an old utility shed was removed from the property,

Testing was done in the SW corner of the lot, near the intersection of Albright and Harrisford and in the parking area to the east of the school, behind the new construction going on. Those are the spots I observed.

A smaller version of the 2 condos on Harrisford would be quite appealing.

That's right. It's so weird to see streets going in, and homes being built. Same was true for the bigger development on the old Bagshaw/Bishop Ryan school site at Quigley and Albright -- I went there for grades 7-8, before it was transferred to the Catholic board.

The school building was being used for something for a while after the field was sold... continuing education or ESL I think.

It’ll probably be townhouses given what’s getting built immediately next door right now.
