231 Main St W/67 Queen St S | ? | 30 fl | Proposed

The City's downtown zoning bylaw document was updated in Dec 2020 to indicate that there is an appeal of the 44m height limit (approx 14 fl) on the entire stretch of Main West from Queen to Hess. I can't find any other information, but am suspicious this may be another Brad Lamb project in the making?

The only other site under current appeal is the old Tandia branch where Liuna's proposed a 30 storey tower on a site that currently allows for max 23.

Surely those buildings are protected somehow? Are they not considered heritage?

The corner if Main and Hess must be as that is a pre confederation building.

Edit: Looked it up, and these buildings are not registered.

If these buildings get knocked for a generic condo that would be such a disappointment...

Are those buildings owned by Darko? I'm pretty sure they were at one point...

Is anyone on here connected to the Durand Neighbourhood Association in such a way that more details could be pursued through their connections?

Thanks eh! That refers to this site on the north side of main. The property in question here is on the south side.

The development we're talking about though does appear to be visible in those renderings.

More renderings from the project across the street that include a building here (thanks to TheRitsman for sharing). You'll notice there are no buildings in this rendering that are not real proposals (no placeholders). Makes me wonder if this site is owned by Coletara too, given that they seem to know something about the plans here that the rest of us don't.

That's a crazy rendering seeing all the residential towers proposed downtown right now. Hamilton is going to be completely different if/once all them get built.

thankfully... the new towers are really distracting from all the dinginess downtown. It's so nice to see Hamilton turn the corner.. it's very up and coming now and starting to clean up. King st. in particular is cleaning up nicely too.. love seeing historic properties being tastefully restored and the tree lined aspect of the street is very appealing too.

sidenote, and totally unrelated.. Dundern castle is a huge disappointment. Walked the grounds for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed to see the neglect. Its much more appealing from the road than up close. I hope the city devotes some funds to necessary repairs and beautification of the grounds. The cemetery across the street is beatiful though.

There have been so many new proposed buildings that I don't even know what's that new building across the street on Main and Queen?

I know the other corner which is empty land but what is that building on top of the red/brown brick buildings? She looks to be 15 storey or so.

Those buildings that look like a mini version of the twin towers must be Brad Lamb's Television project.

That's this one, below. There was a separate thread for that site but looks like it got merged with this site's thread?

Sorry, that's my fault. I thought they were duplicates. I'll fix it.

So despite appearing in Coletara renders, looks like this is a Vrancor project after all. Thread title can be changed to 30 storeys.

I don't mind it.

By my count, this marks the 40th active development application in the wider downtown for a building over 20 storeys.

That's taller than 30. I count 30 for the tower on top of 3 (?) floors of podium

Not a real beauty, but I'm glad she's not all just black/white/greys. At least at this stage.
