Almost but not quite that expensive . . .

Just wanted a 3D visual of the building to admire until the actual project is complete . . . I guess I am a fan of GBD, ZGF, BORA and TVA projects . . .

Some Fun Facts I used to construct the lego model.

• Block 216 in 460 Ft High or 5520 Inches Tall

• Each Lego Brick is .375 Inches Tall. So I used (4) Stacked Bricks per Floor.

• 4 x .375 Inches = 1.5 inches Per Level in Tower

• 1.5 Inches x 35 Floors = 52.5 Inches Tall for Lego Finished Model Height. Add 3 to 5 inches for mechanical . . . .

• Close to 1/8 Scale . . . 480 Bricks used per Level on Tower. . . . Food Cart, Ballrooms and
Shopping area not included.

• 480 Bricks x 35 Floors = 16800 Bricks . . .

I've really been impressed with the newer tower designs that have come out of Portland architectural firms. I'd really like to see the Ankeny Blocks happen. Some of the early renderings were promising. Obviously many of us grew up being fans of Legos. But you have taken it to another level. Bravo!

Wow, I can actually see the structural columns that make up the MAIN TOWER Supports, they are identified by the connecting Green tubes (?) Nice to see that actual angle that the tower will have . . .

Thanks for the update . . .made my day . .

Good to see actual project professionals on this site . . . what a resource looking forward . . .

• In the picture above, is that the first level of the parking garage or second?

• What is the construction time fame ?

• Once they finish the lower level parking, and start on the tower, do they complete a floor like every 2 weeks?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Marlon

I can't tell from when the photo was taken but it looks like the second. There will be 4 basement levels, feeding up towards a ground level luxury valet area/carpark.

This job is a BIG deal. 3-3.5 years is the time frame, nearly $800 million will be spent on this tower.

I don't know what the time frame is per floor since I'm not part of project management but a deck a week is not unheard of. However, this being the RITZ friggin CARLTON, no expense will be spared so each floor will probably have far more electrical conduit, plumbing, and HVAC being routed than your typical deck.

If I had to guess, a fully formed deck every 10 work days, and whatever the rate ends up being, the general contractor will want it done a day faster.

I'm going to have fun watching this go up at about the same time as the old Hudson site in Detroit.

I'm a former Michigander living in Portland the last 5+ years. There was going to be a new tallest at the old Hudson's Department Store site downtown, but it's gone through several permutations at this point. Still, we're looking at what is to be a new tower likely to be nearly 700' feet tall in the heart of the city:

https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208634&page=34.

They're working on the foundation now. It might be wishful thinking, but I'm hoping this Ritz project is somewhat in sync with the former Hudson's site to watch two of my favorite cities grow at the same time.

That is awesome, as much as I am fine with the building heights in Portland and would rather see the city get more dense, it would be awesome to see something this size going up in Portland.

I am really excited to see this tower rising up in the city. I have been wanting to see this block developed with a tower ever since I moved here back in 2003. I miss the food carts, but an entire city block like this needed to have a tower built on it.
