Actually they will have a larger crane than this one to assemble the larger crawler on site, for the large crane the first assembled configuration will be over 240' high, next configuration for the heavy lift will be well over 300'

If so, the final configuration for the crane will come close to rivalling the Bell Aliant Tower (417') in height! Assomption Place is about 250'

And on a separate (but not entirely unrelated) note - the structural steel is now being erected!!!. The first couple of members are now up near the west end of the building.

Walked by the construction site last night and was surprised to see how much steel was put up in one day. Should've brought my camera.

Can't see it so well from the webcam, but lots of activity:

Plenty of red tower crane parts arriving on site today. That combined with seeing the structural steel going up is making arriving into work that much more exciting at heritage court!

A few pictures I took an hour ago. Not the best shots, but at the rate the steel is going up, these views will be a thing of the past before long.

Events Centre this evening. It's amazing how fast the steel is going up!

Nice pics guys!...I can see the biggest crane from my house on the other side of 1111 Main...aka its tall!

Will this be the biggest crane on site or will there be a stationary tower crane as well? I'm finding it hard to decipher the posts on this topic haha.

This is the biggest crane that will be on site, however on the next configuration the crane will be over 300' high.

So why this crane? What beams etc. Are going in there that will be to heavy for a tower crane? I'm curious now about what some of the pieces it will be lifting will look like!

The truss will be 30' high and 220+ ft long.

Tower crane is rarely used on any sport event structure due to the large foot print and large steel members/precast, those type of crane are used on high rise or multi floor with small foot print.

Holy! they will have to close down main when they bring those down! That's massive, I had a feeling it was the trusses by never imagined it being that big!

If a mod wants to update the title: peak height is 26.65m (87.43 ft) as per the city (I asked).

In comparison to a modern building, that's roughly the equivalent of 6 storeys; maybe 7. It would surpass 1081 Main (red government building across the street), though I don't know if it'll really appear that way since there's a setback to the peak.

If the SSP database is correct, then the peak would reach about 80% of the Crowne Plaza (108 ft), 75% of 1222 Main (115 ft) or 70% of 1234 Main (125 ft).

Yes, an update to the header of this thread would seem to be in order. In addition to your information pierre, the events centre will also apparently be 247,000 sq ft (27,500 sq metres).

Using standard SSP naming conventions, the header should be something like this:

[Moncton] Events Centre - Main Street West | 26.7m | 7 fl | U/C

Myles, Greg ???

This photo just goes to show that while it seems that there has been great progress in the installation of the structural steel for the building, there is still a long way to go........

Also in the background of the photo, height is missing! It looks so strange, like a downtown that suddenly turns into forest! Amazing that the city has that many tress though.
