The best thing in the world for Jason Kenney is the federal Liberals in power.

He has to be accountable for nothing. Imagine if the federal Conservatives were in power - he might have to take responsibility. The horror.

Yes Ottawa and specifically Justin Trudeau and the evil Liberals. Also remember to whine about Quebec’s special treatment, raw sewage being dumped into the ocean in Victoria and every other whataboutism possible.

Yep. Though even conservatives are starting to see through the charade. The proposed coal mines on the Eastern Slopes have united a broad coalition against Kenney and the UglyCuckParty. Even Brian Jean told Kenney in an Oped to fire himself from intergovernmental communication. Maybe he could hire John Baird for a lighter, less belligerent touch. He could be the ‘good cop’.

Yep, sad that Victoria's new sewage treatment plant opened last month and put a stake through that shopworn conservative straw man:

Victoria no longer flushes raw sewage into ocean after area opens treatment plant
Dirk Meissner
Published Saturday, January 9, 2021

VICTORIA -- The Greater Victoria area no longer uses surrounding ocean waters to flush away raw effluent now that a $775 million sewage plant has started treating the equivalent of 43 Olympic-sized pools of waste daily.

The opening of the system was recently celebrated online by political and environmental leaders after decades of effort to get a sewage treatment plant.

British Columbia Premier John Horgan told Washington Gov. Jay Inslee in the video call that Victoria started dumping its raw sewage into ocean waters that flow towards Puget Sound in the United States in1894.

“As a born and raised Victorian, I've been contributing to this problem my entire adult life,” he said. “I'm happy to say I'm not doing that anymore.”

Inslee called the treatment plant a “remarkable achievement,” saying he was wondering why the water near his home “looks so clean.”

Victoria's discharge of raw sewage had been a political irritant between the two jurisdictions including threats of a tourism boycott in the 1990s by groups in Washington state.

The state pledged to support Vancouver's bid to host the 2010 Winter Olympics in exchange for B.C.'s promise to treat Victoria's sewage.....

Another street lined with monotonous development. This time in Quebec City. Still don't understand how this stuff gets approved. One thing for it to be the same model over and over again, but can you at least demand some variation in colour? Even if not the siding, did they really have to make all the doors and shutters the same?

It's funny that Quebec has some of the most beautiful cities in the country but as soon as you get out into the suburbs, they are arguably the ugliest. Hell, look at that horrid pic of QC and the near non-existent sidewalk.

Wow..that is fugly. It's a Tempo invasion. It is Milton like monotony with a sprinkling of that suburban quebec vernacular..the tempo garage.

The earlier image of suburban Quebec City made my think garages (and actually used as garages to park a car not your junk) would help as long as the garages were recessed. Quebec City gets a lot of snow and it stays. I imagine those streets are narrower in the winter and having a car in the garage is always nice in the winter.

Flying in and out of Quebec City you can see how it gets pretty suburban pretty quickly with lots of pools. I gather lots of provincial government workers and young families with kids and pools.

I hate the Abri Tempo with a passion. Only a few of my neighbours put one up in the winter. Only one is visible from my house.

A few years ago my mother-in-law (who is not even from Quebec) tried to convince my wife we should get one. And we have a double garage. They backed down after they saw how bloody expensive they are. Even to rent.

BTW, the houses on that Laval street actually all have garages.

Though that's another difference between Quebec and, say, Ontario. In Quebec you can fairly easily find new SFHs with no garage at all.

Damn that tempo street looks like either a field hospital or a shanty town. I can’t believe that’s real. It is Laval though.

I'm amazed that those little carport huts seem to stay put... I don't think they'd make it through one prairie winter without getting shredded by the wind!
