Cool.

That's a first for me - didn't know we even had an Acorn St.

This builder is a non profit and has never actually constructed anything as far as I can tell so I would take this with a grain of salt.

They have built housing in the past. I am sure they will hire an appropriate contractor to actually construct the building.

Here's a link to their website: https://kiwanishomes.ca/

From East Kiwanis:

Yesterday the final tenders closed for the selection of a builder for this $23 million project. All indications are that the quoted amount is within the allocated budget for this project.
Further, almost all conditions have been satisfied with the City of Hamilton in relation to the obtaining of a building permit.
All external obstacles now seem to be addressed in relation to the proposed commencement date for construction of late October.

Right behind the shadiest of shady motels. Will be interesting to see if that land becomes available after the city ended the renewal of the Budget Inn's business licence. That might be a good area to add on/improve.

It will probably get the same treatment that the demolished motel site at the Queenston/Main traffic circle will be getting -- redevelopment into a mixed-use, mixed-income property.

I drove by about a week ago and the site was fenced off with a construction trailer.

Looks like they're using the address number 6 on Acorn, and will continue to post regular updates on their organization's home page - https://kiwanishomes.ca/

Update

The project has recently been named the MacDonald Apartments.

I was by yesterday and the foundation is almost finished and they are out of the ground.

Those stairs don't seem like they're up to code.. that's a very odd way to do them - what is one is obstructed - how would you use the other ones? Crawl through to the other one..?
