Different waterfront, but the Port Authority is currently seeking input for redevelopment of the fisherman's pier along the beaches section of town. Thought some people here might find it interesting:

Saw that on my run they had poured the curbs for some of the street grid for the development at Pier 8:
The location and angle with an absolute shite arrow:

Pictures from today. Seems they have nearly finished the new break wall, maybe 20 metres to go on the north-eastern portion. They are erecting some kind of structure closer to the water, with a hole beside it. I assume it is some sort of water or hydro facility as all construction on site is currently water main, pipes, gas, and road works. The new breakwater is about a foot to foot and a half taller than the old one. Seems they're about ready to pave a few roads. It's curious they didn't bury the hydro lines, or they could be temporary lines for lights and such.

Lived down at Marina Towers a million years ago and often looked out over the pier and imagined what the area would look like if it were developed - I even made a crude sketch or two. This is back in the days when the idea of a major project like this happening in the Hammer was unthinkable. We've come a long way...

Still have a sketch?

God, I must have done dozens of sketches during that time. I recall creating a really detailed plan for that area of Beasley bounded by John, Wilson, Wellington and King William. It roughly adhered to Christopher Alexander's theory of urban design.
I stumbled upon him and the New Urbanist movement in the mid-90s. It seemed to me that Hamilton, a city scarred by mid-century mega-projects, urban blight and suburban sprawl, was the perfect patient for such an experiment.
I am very curious what this building is for. I'm assuming it must be some sort of utilities building, since they haven't started the park yet, but it isn't clear exactly what for.

I believe that is the new pumping station? There was a lot of underground work done there. I've also seen drawings somewhere that show a PumpHouse cafe in that area.
Crappy night picture with my phone, but the roads are first layer paved:
