Great photos! I am constantly reminded just how unique Victoria is in BC, and how totally different than Vancouver it is. I am glad it is really getting the attention it deserves now, although I'm sure many locals/NIMBYs would hate my position

Thank you so much Zahav for your compliment on my photos. I agree with your comment too. I find Victoria completely different from Vancouver. Yet so often you hear NIMBYS say "It's going to look like Vancouver soon" or comments like that. I remember going to a city meeting where one of the board members said that he just got of the ferry from Vancouver and how horrible the concrete canyons were in Vancouver and how he was against high rises etc. I am so happy with all the new high rise condos and offices that have been built in Victoria the last 10 years. Especially because most have been built on old parking lots. It's been exciting to see too.

I'm also loving the infilling of parking lots by new residential and office in Victoria. I think that the quality of new builds is pretty hit or miss though, and would hate to see too much of the old core redeveloped as very mediocre boxy buildings. Victoria currently is quite different from Vancouver, and has a strong Pacific-Northwest feeling, quite similar to a smaller Portland. I think that the key for its development will always be balancing its historic charm and great neighbourhoods, with densification. I don't think that that should be a big problem, there are plenty of opportunities in the city to densify without becoming destructive.

The city government continues to be the enemy of Victoria's uniqueness. They're calling for spandrel, bland panels, and blank walls on every major project now (you know, to battle the climate emergency).

Here's some more photos I took from downtown yesterday morning...
They aren't the best photos as I only gave myself a couple of hours to do some photography before doing paperwork for my business.

I took this photo from the top of Ross Place in 2008 before the Power House Building was restored. I remember when I took this photo that I hoped it wouldn't get demolished as it is one of my favorite Victoria Buildings.

I was looking through some of my old photos and found some cool photos.

I found this old photo I took on April 30 2008, on Blanshard Street. The old Bay parkade is still there in this photo.

Another one I found...

I found this one of the old B.C. Tel Buildings before the Atrium was built...

I found this old photo of the Romeo's building before the Juliet was built..,

I also found an old photo I took on where the New Hudson Walk towers are that has the old Red Hot Video store in it... I just haven't uploaded it yet. I'll do that sometime.

here's a future possibility for the hill in Langford on the south side of the highway that was cleared a year or two back.

"Pacific Hill will be developed as a mixed use residential and commercial business and technology park."

Wow these photo's bring back some really great memories for me! Can't believe it's been that long that I've lived in Victoria, that I remember how some of this looked like before!

Super fond memories of working at Romeo's as one of my first Resturant jobs! I'll never forget the face the owner made when he said girls arn't dishwashers and prep cooks! Lol, boy did I show them!

I noticed a new tower crane erected at Dockside Green. I've not been following up on the development scene so dose anyone know what's being built?

Thank you so much for the photo and link. The buildings and plans look really nice... a little taller would have been better but still nice looking.

It looks like there will end up being two taller towers further to the south of the three towers pictured above.

Thanks for the photo of Dockside Green. It should look great once it's built out. I wonder what the time line is going to be? Any word on what going on with the roundhouse developments? or Bayview 4?
