VanCity wonderland

As a part of our trip to the Pacific Northwest in April, we started off by venturing to Canadia. I've been to Ontario a number of times, but had never been to western Canada. It was my kids' first trip outside the United States.

Vancouver is stunningly beautiful. Despite being just 2-3 hours north, it definitely has a very different feel than Seattle, which we hit next on the trip and I already shared.

We didn't stay in the city, but in an AirBnB in North Vancouver. It was an interesting way to experience things as I usually make sure we stay right in the middle of wherever we venture to. However, as a result, we explored portions of the city (by car, but whatever) that we would not have likely seen otherwise.

We introduced our kids to hockey, ferry boats, and totem poles.

As always...I share...

Terrific mix of natural scenery, streetscapes and skyline shots. Vancouver is at the very top of my list of North American cities I haven't been to yet but want to visit.

Nice pictures!

I wonder what the address is for that floating gas station. How is it listed in Gas Buddy? How do they get mail?

Just happy that you had nice weather and that you were able to see Vancouver as it is meant to be seen;0

Nice tour.

Great photos!

But please don't call it "Vancity" as it's the name of a Credit Union or a relic callsign from our long moribund hip-hop scene in the 90s.

Thanks for the comments all. Since we didn't stay downtown, we ended up driving through it multiple times (along with a trip on the ferry + skytrain) and I feel like we didn't see nearly enough. I didn't get to explore many individual buildings either as I like to. Traffic in a city without freeways and limited train service (especially coming from Southern California) was frustrating. For the record, that was our own fault for staying on the other side of Vancouver Harbour.

The setting of the city is absolutely stunning and the moody weather made for some great quick 'let's duck in here' discoveries.

We definitely were not prepared for the snow at Sea to Sky. It was all clouded in and raining and 2,900ft is not a regular snow level for California. My kids totally dug it though and played in the snow till their hands were beet red.

One other note for anyone thinking of doing it: Amtrak from Vancouver to Seattle is not a train. Nowhere on the website or on your ticket does it say this, but there is no train. It's a bus. We were quite disappointed as my kids really wanted to ride a train other than a subway or lite rail.
