Salem, MA

I visited the Boston area again in June - finally getting around to posting some results.

Lets start with Salem.

We arrived by car at our hotel in Peabody around 5:00 PM on a Friday afternoon - traffic at the I-93 - Route 128 junction was insane. Why haven't they fixed that miserable cloverleaf yet? We took in Salem after all the museums were closed - just walked around and had dinner.

Salem Common

Random street scenes on the way to the House of 7 Gables (which was closed, of course)

Next the harbor area:

The House of 7 Gables:

Closer to the core commercial area:

Newer harbour development where we ate dinner

All for now.

Salem! What a freakin gem, and not just during Halloween.

The Peabody Essex museum is wonderful - too bad you didn't get to see it. Next time, I guess.

I love those old historic towns in NE, Salem being especially rich in legends and built heritage. so lovecraftesque.

I remember being drunk in some backroad around the core and I was not even scared!!

perfect pics!

Yes, Seaskyfan, the Witches Memorial is right next to the graveyard. When I see these kinds of really old graveyards, I am not as creeped out as more recent, "fresh" graveyards.
