On the south side of Portage Avenue, there is only one shelter that is routinely occupied now. It's at Sherbrook and Portage - well away from Downtown proper. You can take my word for it, I walk past them everyday.

I mean, every city has suburbanites who are a bit skittish about big bad downtown but in Canada it seems to me that it's never to the point where they'd avoid the area especially if it has attractive stuff that you can't find anywhere else in the metro.
Things have changed significantly over the last couple years and are now such that I would not necessarily care to buy a home and live there right now (not that I am the target market), but I certainly don't hesitate to go downtown for a hockey game, dinner, etc.

Compared to my experiences in downtown Montreal over the years its just a very unpleasant experience when I go downtown in Winnipeg. If I go to jets games when there's a crowd its not so bad if you stay at Rudy's restaurant or tavern before the game but I always worry about my car being broken into. I have talked with numerous friends who are employees from the police force on graham, cargill and other companies downtown and so many have had drunks and drug dealers break into their cars and there have been hatchet attacks downtown its just not a nice place in my opinion.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I almost always park on the street for Moose and Jets games and I have never had a problem.

Same for me, and that goes for innumerable other events that I've attended downtown in the evenings. I have never had a problem and have always parked on the street. People may be worried that they're going to be broken into, but I don't think it's actually as big a problem as some would make it out to be. I've parked in plenty of "sketchy" areas too and never experienced any problems.

Oilers!

A fun Flames/Caps game ended in a W for the Calgary team.

Bombers and Jets both playing at exact same time today in Winnipeg, what the hell? Usually one takes the afternoon and the other the evening to allow fans to watch both

I don't remember this ever happening before... I'd chalk it up to awkward last minute pandemic scheduling.

Gaudreau looks to be playing better. Couple of assists, including on the overtime winner. Lindholm with the hattrick. A good win.

Ottawa with the collapse over the last six minutes to lose in regulation.

It's the battle of the squid versus whale. If the Canucks can pull off a win against Seattle tonight, then we can deem the road trip a success.

Jets up 4-2 right now. Dubois has really stepped up his game in the absence of Wheeler and Schiefle.

Jets win impressive without Schief and Wheels scoring 6 goals tonight

I'd blame the CFL. They always have the most stupidest scheduling.

After 50 years of being in the league Vancouver finally has a geographic rival.

Habs finally get a win. They trashed Detroit 6-1. Perreault with a hat trick. First time a Quebecer does that at the Bell Centre since Damphousse did it in '98.

Also, the Leafs got trashed 7-1 against the Penguins.

All is right with the world again....

I will bet Chevy and Quenneville will be paying the price today or tomorrow as well....as they should.

I did a bunch of reading and it isn't clear what they're culpable of exactly or their level of involvement in this. Do they get the axe because they were present at a meeting? I'm just thinking in liability terms. Who bears the onus of making a proper report when serious incidents arise? Did I miss a bunch of information? Doesn't seem like there's much available either.
