I thought Canal Crossing was adding an additional floor? Those pictures do not seem to show that is happening?

Tulane Ave

Tennis1400: I looked at your blog and saw something about a Vietnamese restaurant and Smoothie King in a strip mall that I think is on Tulane Ave (I couldn't make out the street names as they were too blurry when I zoomed in). Where is this? Thanks!

it was mentioned in an LSU Real Estate Board Meeting they would be leasing the bottom of the LSU alumni Building and they specifically mentioned Smoothie King and a Vietnamese Restaurant...

Also LSU will be leasing most of the Old Interim Charity Hospital

Also Delgado will be taking over this building:

ALSo UMC has gotten approval to build a new large parking garage with street level retail from october meeting:

The location of the parking garage is unfortunate, the out-parcels should be reserved for future medical/research office buildings. The garage should be located in the center of the site IMO.

The garage located across the street on Tulane doesn't even look used...

I believe future expansion is expected to be toward Claiborne on the canal street side.

The garage across tulane is for the lsuhsc campus and I can confirm that it is full.

A portion of the Canal side is reserved for the immediate expansion of UMC, but the out-parcels are for any use deemed appropriate. Previously the other Tulane parcel was for the now defunct Proton Therapy Center.

That section of tulane needs a lot of work, thinking long term, I don't believe a garage at that location is the best solution IMO.

Not sure why you would say its unforutnate if its got street level retail. The way alot of these builsing are built now are required to be so far back from the street now because of bomb threats etc its just best to put garages with street level uses there

If you’re referring to the garage at Tulane and S. Roman the upper 3 floors are often empty. Not saying that they haven’t issued out a permit for every space, but there is hardly ever anyone parked above the 4th level.

Seems like they could have explored adding floors to an existing garage first, if it's engineered for it. I do hope they can keep at least a block or two of green space, the area sorely needs it.

I would like to see LSU sell off those surface lots along Poydras and have someone put in apartments. Maybe a new garage would help that happen.

Still sort of confused why they did not go with LED lighting versus what looks like metal halide

Looks like they're taking their time on the airport interior. Looks pretty much the same as it did when I went in August.
