I don't understand why the artists don't depict what the building will look like in it's new setting. Carlisle doesn't even look like that.

Here is both the rendering already seen above, but in a larger format, plus another rendering for the 17 story residential tower, The Taylor at 3030 Carlisle, now under construction in Uptown/Downtown Dallas.

This rendering seems to reflect more of a cool "V" shape to the projects' design.

With that "V" shape, and the two tall ends of the "V" facing outward to the street, makes this highrise project look more like twin 17 story towers being built than just a single tower.

Personally I wish they had stacked the two and made it 34 stories tall!

But nonetheless looking good Dallas!

Dallas is building up, won't be long until we see another boom. Or should I say a start of a new one that has already taken off.

I noticed that demolition has begun on the two low rise buildings across the street from the Taylor for the 8 story apt building there. Have any renderings been released. I don't even know the name of that project.

As for the comment about it being a 34 story building. I don't think this area of Dallas is zoned for a building that tall. You know how it goes with height restrictions around Dallas.

I used to work in a building 2 blocks from here and can confirm 100% its in Love Field's flight path. This building would be downhill from that building (3131 McKinney), so I suspect it could be maybe 25 stories at the most. Still, this is actually pretty tall for that part of Carlisle, which is mostly 4 story apartment and office and some townhomes and low-rise condos. The proximity to the Katy Trail though calls for that density. I used to complain that while Dallas has been booming, it hasn't had much height. But I like the way things are slowly building upward as the density increases. The last few buildings in Uptown mostly seem to be pretty tall compared to the 4-5 story fare that we got used to. The opposite of Las Colinas, which started tall and is filling in with shorter residentials.

The crane is up at the construction site on Lemmon Avenue between McKinney and Central Expressway. Have any renderings of what is being built here been released?

I don't know if Dallas ever left it's "boom" state. It's been pretty constant construction for the past 5 years or so in Uptown, and two major towers in downtown proper (Arts Tower (7-Eleven HQ) and Museum Tower). It's not a New York or Chicago-sized boom, but it's had a much more sustained level of high-rise construction activity than the vast majority of US cities over the past few years.

I agree. It has never stopped....SLOWED maybe, but certainly not close to stopping. And there is so much more we never even see, such as the vast amount of renovation going on. For instance, there are three blocks downtown comprising four buildings, some of them highrises, and ALL are under renovation into apartment rental units.

A long time coming: Dallas Arts District office, residential project close to a start

That incongruity may soon end.

Developer Craig Hall, who’s spent years pondering what to do with the key property, is on the verge of kicking off development.

Hall is finalizing plans for a 16-story office building and a 29-story residential high-rise on the property.

A future phase would also contain a hotel and more condos.

“We plan to pull our building permits on the office building before the end of the year,” said Hall, who’s been looking at designs for the property for more than a decade. “I’m excited about the opportunity to finally get something going.”

Developers kick off Uptown apartments

Developers have broken ground on a 6-story Uptown apartment community.

The project at 3003 Carlisle St. is the first development in the area by builder Alamo Manhattan.

The 192-unit rental project backs up to the Katy Trail and will open late next year. A pedestrian bridge will connect the apartments to the trail.

“We consider the Katy Trail to be ocean front property for Dallas,” developer Matt Segrest said in a statement. “It will be a one-of-a-kind amenity.”

Addison-based Hensley Lamkin Rachel designed the Mediterranean-style building. Andres Construction is the general contractor.

Principal Real Estate Investors and Texas Capital Bank funded the development, which is between Turtle Creek and McKinney Avenue.

Alamo Manhattan’s Uptown project is just across the street from the construction site of StreetLights Residential’s high-rise apartment complex at Carlisle and Bowen Street.
